To all the people saying it’s just a number, would you feel comfortable walking in Liverpool wearing the shirt?

posted on 16/3/18

it's clearly about 69ing but because it's red it does open itself up to these claims which is just unfortunate.

Had it not been available in red, this wouldn't be happening.

I'm sorry but you can see the PC in the outrage by some people

Maybe Munich should change the name of its City because its insensitive to the Munich disaster..

I mean come on, people need to stop being so bleeding sensitive and taking anything that is remotely relatable as offensive
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It isn't called Munich.

München.

There was an issue when they used a picture of the Rangers team from the 1870s and changed the faces to skeletons or something. That was also withdrawn after complaints.

It me or may not have been somone being cute in designing it. But they have responded quite effectively to the issue, much in the way they did in the Rangers situation.

Unfortunate coincidence tbh. You'd think somebody would have picked up on it, however that's the opinion of a football fan.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Even if you are not a football fan, you are aware of Hillsborough. Someone in marketing would have known connotations
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It happened 3 decades ago, and unless your a football fan you probably wouldnt know.

Springsteen released "I'm on fire" in 1985. At least that got to no.5 in the UK charts so someone will have heard it. Where's the tshirt for that? I'm sure that would go down brilliantly in a similar style around Bradford.......

As mentioned before - how many people have even thought about TopMan since the 90's before this?

They do some nice stuff, got a really smart jacket from there and I think it's destroying River Island because River Island changed to compete with Topman and can't IMO.

A lot of things get mentioned, if you wernt associated with it or a football fan if you see something about news wise its probably in one ear out the other.

My point entirely. The number 96 on it's own I have no problem with, but with the other messages and the chosen colour I can see why Liverpool fans might not appreciate it.

Hillsborough enquiry led news bulletins and papers recently.

It was national news not sports news.

Everyone in UK knows about it

Almost all news and advertising is now based at a target audience.

Somebody interested in music, design and city living probably doesn't see too much of the news.

Why is there a white rose on the shirt? And no mention of Marley.

And the lyrics are wrong too apparently

So it has been pulled already. Not surprised.

It is about a Bob Marley album apparantly.

My points are -

1, Why chose the year of the album release '96' as the most prominant thing on the top

2, Why choose red

3, Wtf has Karma got to do with it.

I feel it is a little insensitive and they should of looked at these things like they do for any new release of anything.

As a survivor of Hillsborough it made my blood boil when i first saw it but I actually feel it was one person who did this and it was a huge coincidence. I think they will be having a talk to from their management.

Oh and to all the insensitive planks calling us out for being victims. Until you are in this situation and have lost loved ones to something like this then jog the feck on you small minded neaderthals.
