It was evident di matteo was only a caretaker, and the results the following season were poor.

Your initial post said "If you’re at Chelsea and you fall out with a couple of players Roman says bye." Which was untrue. And you even backed it up by saying that he even sacked someone who won the CL for us. Whether or not he was right for those sackings, he does not sack people just because they don't get on with a few players.

Not confused at all. Just thought you said that comment, which i've been debating. Love to know how you think it's a mess when everything i've said has been the truth.

other than thinking you made the original comment because you were the one debating, what else was not truth? Strange guy.

Tiddles,

Hey mate, hope all's well. My mum and two of my sisters were in your town and surrounds this week. Had a blast as expected.

Yes, I do have a problem with José's treatment of players in public. Last season this issue flared up and I responded in kind. The public treatment of Shaw would mentally crush me. I tend to respond to carrots over sticks and I'm my own harshest critic in everything I do. If my boss came out at a fish endocrinology conference and berated me I'd be absolutely devastated. She doesn't and has never had to. My own fear of imperfections in my research means she never needs to do what José has done with Shaw.

Shaw has had numerous managers at multiple clubs. All of them have said that they have scalded him privately about many issues. José has done so too, and has decided that the private method has failed.

José is a surfer of epic proportions. I've said that before he signed and subsequently. He's actually quite like SAF in some ways. We need his khuntishness in some situations. Posters like Scholay last season used this public treatment to berate Jose and compared him with SAF. Scholay and others don't just have rose-tinted glasses, they've re-written their memories of the past. I posted links to 12 articles highlighting literally dozens of instances where SAF and his rabid temper and demand for perfection would explode into public derision of his players.

It is pure fallacy to suggest Jose is unique in this Shaw treatment. Robb is right. SAF was an untouchable GOD at United. ANY player that didn't follow orders or expectations were privately and/or publicly slaughtered. End result being that these players were booted from the club, some literally booted in the head leading to multiple stitches being required! He ruled with an iron fist. In his early years he DID get rid of many players. The subsequent decades didn't require such overhaul at one given time due to the expectations and standards instilled.

These days managers get turfed before the 7-8 players. I definitely agree with you in this point. This will also likely be true of José. I accept the likelyhood of José's departure over 8 players but I don't believe that the method he's finally turned to is without merit in the circumstances as a last resort for such players as Shaw.

Good stuff mate, if you’re ever over here let me know and we can grab a drink

I’ve said many times Shaw is rubbish, that’s the one thing Jose got right in not playing him. He’s over weight, a bit thick and just not that good, even at Southampton when everyone was creaming themselves over him i didn’t see much special.

However, i still don’t believe he deserves this. Do it privately, if after banging your head against the wall trying to get him clued in and it still doesn’t work then just sell him.

I just see cracks beginning to form, this Shaw one, Pogba and Deschamps coming out saying he’s unhappy at united at present, martial being benched the minute Sanchez came in despite, imo, being one of your best attacking players this season even though he’s been a touch inconsistent.
