Fair enough. Looking at the results we both won 4 and drew 4 of our final 8 league games.
...............
And to be fair if Chelsea are putting that down to injuries, then we can put it down to being involved in three competitions.

Agreed, but it was more so because i was 15, i had only seen us win a trophy invented by our own chairman and the old Division 2. Coupled with us getting past the 4th round for first time in years and i did allow myself to believe

Exactly, but you would have been in those competitions hook or by crook. With a bit of luck we wouldn't had had those injuries. Just something I think we could have done, before I thought a league was possible for us!
Definitely the Europa league in 2016. Beat LVG's United who were generally very good in the big games, then the crazy Dortmund game and it felt like Villarreal barely troubled us even though they won the first leg. Then in the final went 1-0 up and was all over Sevilla until half time before it just completely switched when they scored. Still can't believe how bad Moreno was in that second half.
Chelsea fans: that night v Sunderland 85..... what a night that was at the Bridge!! Mental

Still pee'd off that we then went and bought Thomas a year or two later.
Fakking hated the guy......
Losing to Portsmouth in a mega frustrating FA Cup game, we were on for another treble that year and the semi-finalists had we gone through we would have been massive favourites for the FA cup.
Obviously went on to win the PL and beat Chelsea in the CL final, so that Pompey loss was even more annoying.
Imagine, double treble winners

2012 league title. Amazing how we threw it away.
95 league title. Needs no explanation. That fecking west ham goalie whose name I can't even remember.
2010 Champions League. Went out in the quarter final to Bayern Munich after Rafael getting stupidly (though slightly unfairly sent off). Fergie also inexplicably left a clearly injured Rooney to hobble around the pitch for most of the game. Reckon we would have had a great chance of winning it if we'd got through that.
From an England standpoint also, I really thought we had a great chance in Euro 2004. On paper, the best squad in the tournament probably.

Should have definitely won the league in 1999, injuries to our strikers and poyet as you point out stopped that. Utd were going for a treble and focusing on europe so was there for the taking. beat them 5-0 in the league that season and played some wonderful stuff.
Also thought we should have won it in the "little horse" year, yet mourinho seemed to throw in the towel to prove himself right. Finished 4 points behind despite mourinho making some strange decisions that season.

2008 is a little harsh, we were good, but United we're truly exceptional that year. Heart breaking how we lost it so badly though.
2011 I agree with. I honestly can't even remember who won it that year, not without checking. Everybody was fecking crap.
frankly.... as an LFC fan i have never thought once this is our year.... not once.
I do not think that there was one year where our team was strong enough to really think that way since 1990
If you look from 1993 to 1998 under evans. we finished 3rd ONCE and fa cup finalists.
under houllier. 2001 was great but it was followed up by a very decent season in 2nd and league cup win. arsenal won the league by 7 points
I never thought under rafa's reign we were close.
the reason why in these cases is there was always an obvious flaw i nthe team.
If it wasn't central midfield it was central defence... if not that it was lack of wide players.
We waited 3 years to get ince. he made no difference, we waited 5 for hyppia. staunton played cb for example. When we got good players we won a couple things. then there'd be another gap. Under rafa it was constantly width
Since rafa left until klopp came its 5 years of crap.. even 2nd was a massive run and unexpected
LFC fans saying next year are foolish indeed. Look at LFc right now. Front 3 great. Kieta is a hope right now, not more. The other CMS are only ok. GK is a question, who plays with VVd. thats 3/4 gaps right there!
I honestly thought we were on for the treble in 1977 until that deflected FA cup final goal

I was at that game. 1st time ever at a Friday night game. Atmosphere was amazing until the 90th minute.
Another one for me was the 1987 League Cup final which I attended. 1st time we have ever lost when Rush scored 1st I think. Charlie Nicholas scored 2 that day with his little shiny earings the tart.
Also the 88 FA cup final which I also attended against Wimbledon. I was sat in the wimbledon end and got loads of stick
In 2011 we really kicked on in the league around late February/start of march and went from 15 points to within 3 points of Utd and next up was Utd at Old Trafford. Chicharito then scored 30 seconds in to ruin any hope.
The year Mourinho won the CL with Porto I was convinced it was going to be ours. Amazing the impact one appalling reffing decision had on the next decade of the Premier League!
