Cheating Aussies

was thinking that Viru..... Aussies not winning much without smith and warner. All teams have been caught tampering and if the Aussies didn’t do the presser, things would have been different. The Aussies are the reason this has been blown outta proportion.

what about the 12th man who told bancroft to hide the evdence? are we seriously to believe that no one else was involved in this?

posted on 27/3/18

Viru, yes the only good thing is that Smith told at least some of the truth. Year ban for me. Also win bonuses should be withheld, so the rest of the team don't condone it.

australia are now on full damage control mode. They have already seen what the backlash of smiths press conference has done. Australian board has a large vested interest here, can’t afford to lose public trust further. All the sponsorships, big bash and their team will be affected by any further relevations.

cheating is cheating

regardless of whther is bribe money or betting or spot fixing or ball tampering.

as far as im concerned

anyone found guilty desrvres to be banned for 5 years not one match. (still cant believe some thick heads dont understand that - this comment is to the system - mainly ICC)

there is no place for cheating in our beautiful sport called cricket.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

There is a difference. The Aussies cheated cause they wanted to win. Those involved in spot fixing have already stopped caring about the result of a match before they cross the crease because of personal gain. That is a much darker form of corruption and is punished accordingly.

Warner being hung out to drown and is the fall guy in all this as he was already public enemy no1.

In football terms, its the difference between diving for a penalty and kicking the ball into your own net.

Sorry admin, not sure I agree with that analogy. Think you are getting mixed between spot fixing and match fixing. But I do agree that ball tampering is a lesser offence than spot. Match fixing the worst by a mile.

I would like them banned heavily,Warner is a ferile little runt,(little man's Barney Rubble).I've spent 8 trips/winters in Australia watching Cricket, they are a nation of 5 beer warriors.
Although what makes me laugh/sneer is Smith and Bancroft laughing their heads off after the Gabba test, what goes around comes around boys.

why was my comment removed

seems like freedom of opinon is no longer allowed in here.

double standards then again what do you expect in this "white mans world"

delete this comment i dare you

you bunch of racists.

cheating is cheating regardless of your skin colour

my point is simple

give the white man the same "punishment" you gave to the non white man whether that non white man is pakistani or indian or sri lankan or afghanistani or west indian or zimbabwean or orthodox jew etc.

the issue here is EQUALITY.

this coverage of "ball tampering" was NOWEHERE near close to the "spot-fixing" scandal of 2010.

1 match BAN - is a slap on the wrst.
its a slap on every non white cricket fan and players etc

Real Justice = the ENTIRE australian cricket team banned for FIVE YEARS.

What a car crash of a comment, pipe down honestly.

Lesson to be learnt- england lost all their games in the last 3series and not a single time they thought of cheating. India’s team under dhoni lost 8-0 and were bowling for days every other match, not a single time they wanted to cheat. Australia need to get away from the winning mentality and play in right spirit. The fact not a single player/team has even sympathised with the Aussies show how they are one of the most hated teams.

Spot fixing or showing your team and individual players to be better than they are in fair play?

Smith will have seen the financial benefit through deals and endorsements for being the winner. This will have been a cash benefit. Lance Armstrong didn’t spot fix, he just cheated better than Everyone else, Smith / Bancroft was more cringeworthy than Atherton.

posted on 28/3/18

Warner, Smith - 12 month bans.....Bancroft - 9 month ban. But Walkie-Talkie-Guy - "Carry on!".... those sanctions are very harsh. But fair play to Aussie board, taken it seriously. No other board has taken action like this on ball tampering.

posted on 28/3/18

I think it's a ridiculous decision.

Also, looking at earlier comments, I agree spot fixing is worse than tampering, but by far the worst is match fixing. There really is no point watching a match if people are playing purposely to lose.

posted on 28/3/18

Absolutely poor for aus. Yeah ok smith will be able to play after 12 months but being out of the game for that long will almost mean he can never be the same player he was. Australia shooting themselves on the foot here

posted on 28/3/18

Agree justtrue- really annoying when people lump all 3 into 1. Match fixing in its own league...

Viru, A bit of sensationalism from the Aussies... no need for it at all. I think this decision brings Aussies into the lower ranked side now like Pakistan, Lanka, windies. India will dominate both formats ( great chance we win in aus later this year too) over the next few years, with saffers and England slightly behind.

****Great chance TO win in aus

posted on 28/3/18

As if none of the other players were not part if it, the Aussie bowlers must have realized the ball was being tampered with. If stinks of a cover up imo

Also a key finding for the investigation is they used SANDPAPER, not a tape, the best comedy I have seen in a while. Australia will be as good as WI now and if India don’t thrash them then bcci need to start considering banning our players too. 😂😂😂😂

posted on 28/3/18

Cheating to gain money is far worse than ball tampering. That's why the Pakistani cricketers were sent to prison.
Anyway these 2 warner and smith will be back for the ashes which is a joke

Aussies will struggle with Smithy and Warner. I doubt they will miss other guy that much...

So who will be the captain now?

Also I am surprised they haven't taken any action on Lehman.

posted on 28/3/18

No reason to punish Lehmann for this incident. It looks like Warner's stupid plan, Bancroft gullible to go along with it and Smith too weak to stop it.

However, Lehmann is responsible for the unacceptable team culture that has resulted in numerous incidents during his tenure. Hopefully he will be sacked once the dust has settled.

If you believe what they have said at face value. Why the F would Smith mention a leadership group if only 3 people were in on the plan?

posted on 28/3/18

Because he didn't want to name any particular names. The alternative would have been to point the finger at Warner.

Of course there may have been others involved, but CA and the ICC have carried out an enquiry and we have only their findings to go on unless contradictory information emerges.
