You are going be one disappointed fella if the club does nothing new but change the manager.

Love how u think transfer policy and young player policy is down to Conte when it has been a problem for years whoever the manager.

Until the club changes to more long term strategic thinking with long term KPIs to match nothing will change. The pressure will always be on the manager to win trophies immediately which totally conflicts with giving younger players time and enough ppportunities to prove and establish themselves.

In fairness to Conte he has done that with Christensen but in relation to the clubs short term KPIs it has cost him on some important games.

Univentive subs ? Hmmm maybe u have not seen our squad and bench. Well here is a clue. It full of shiiiiiiite players.

Can’t invent anything without the raw materials to make it work.

Agree totally with that Biggish, our failing transfer policy is not a new occurrence. You can trace it back to signings such as Sidewell, Ben Haim, Smertin, Jarosik, Papa Djil????, Miazga and Hector - even the Ill fated move for a waning Torres, after being close to the signing of Aguero (One of our biggest transfer feck ups IMO)!

I don't see it improving until we get someone with a football brain in the management system TBH.

Biggish totally agree with you

As I said on Flash's article a big rethink and overhaul is required at the club in how it operates from top to bottom. Our rivals are taking big progressive leaps forwards while as a club we're shrinking.

Unless these changes come about we can kiss goodbye to getting back in the CL for a while if at all, regardless of which manager we might be able to bring in.

Never did say Conte was culpable for the transfer policy, you made that up.
There are worse bench players than ours at other teams but coaches have managed to make it work by using squad players (and shift/reverse momentum of matches) accordingly, so no that argument doesn't wash with me.
By uninventive subs I mean the same pointless like for like subs, no change to shape.

Do I think had he could have used Kenedy, Bats, Chalobah, Emerson, Hudson-Odoi, Giroud even (who is renowned to be a super sub) more to make an impact? Absolutely YES. But decided to neglect.

They're not terrible players that should only be getting 5-10 minutes at end of matches, when it's far too late to effect match.
Emerson hasn't even got a PL start yet, which is completely embarrassing.
Disgusting treatment because Conte didn't have a say in his signing.

By the way those players mentioned (with the exception of Hudson-Odoi) are not even what one would consider young, they're over 22 prime (and fresh) to make an positive impact with a coach that trusts them.
You build them over time gradually with substantial minutes off bench.
Nope, Conte has no interest in developing and making full use of resources available at his disposal.

What I will finally say is...I'm actually glad Conte didn't get full control of transfers otherwise would have ended up with the likes of Candreva, Biabiany in addition to HIS other signings Bakayoko, Morata, Zap, Giroud (make no mistake...he wanted/coveted them, contrary to complaints throughout the season in public about not being backed at all).
Never would have signed Kante.

If i subscribed to this argument (which i may well do) then Conte is either:

Very stubborn.
Not as tactically astute as first appeared
or........
Deliberately sabotaging the possibility of positive results to prove a point.

Brummie, my biggest surprise was the result. Thought they'd win more convincingly.

But his side he picked was as though he hoped he'd lose.

And what proof do you have that he coveted them. For me that is another massive issue with Chelsea. No one knows who is responsible for signings....it’s a joke.

biggish i am gonna sound ungrateful here........

One of Batesy's worst points was he was outspoken.

one of Batesy's best points was...........he was outspoken.

At this time as long as we could be self sustainable, i'd actually have somebody like Bates who i believe would give us some sort of clue of what direction he wants the club to take over our current much richer owner
