The proof is the words from Conte's mouth prior to signings and playing time (being the biggest indicator) since they've signed.
You think Conte would give Bakayoko the time of day on the pitch (with his many shortcomings to put it lightly), if it wasn't his signing?
Bakayoko has been the most inept player in the squad, yet Conte perseveres...
Think about it...Drinkwater, Emerson, Bats, sidelined.
Bakayoko, Zap, Giroud even in his short time here has got more than Bats ever did.
Would Conte even think to ever start Bats at Nou Camp, which he did with Giroud?

What I will finally say is...I'm actually glad Conte didn't get full control of transfers otherwise would have ended up with the likes of Candreva, Biabiany in addition to HIS other signings Bakayoko, Morata, Zap, Giroud (make no mistake...he wanted/coveted them, contrary to complaints throughout the season in public about not being backed at all).
Never would have signed Kante.

Or Luiz
We were linked with Bakayoko as early as November 2016 and it was reported Conte subsequently went to go watch him the following month with Emenalo against Tottenham.
Not proof though, just speculation. The only thing we do know is that he did not want to sell Matic. Had the club listened, Baka would not have played many games.
Mata should have stayed as a Chelsea player for this season.
