I watch most United games. They’re good players. A lot of United fans would agree with me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Really
So you watch our 3pm games do you?
You watch our games when Chelsea are playing do you?
You have a strange fascination with yes and Jose.
I have never said they are not good players however they haven't been a success. The only one I would take is Bailly due to age and I think if he sorts his injuries out he can be a top class player
----------------------------------------------------------------------
90% of United games are on TV, and they rarely clash with Chelsea games, tbf.

United successfully signed all 4 players. One of them was even signed twice.

I agree with Erikbro on this particular point.

Lukaku's return has been very good. He's bedded in well, links up with players that are going to be the future of our attack nicely and given the system Mourinho wants to play looks a good fit. 25 goals and assists in the league and over 35 in all comps cannot be played down.

Matic has brought stability, leadership, a calmness in front of the backline, dependability and some really important performances that have rightly earned him as many MOTM awards as any of our other outfield players this season. His distribution he can improve on, but he's an intelligent player and we've missed that when Carrick hasn't been available.

Ibra's goals made a big difference for us last season, and despite his conversion rate and the injury, it just felt right that we had him at the club. He was a good fit, entertained in various ways immensely and will be talked about by the fans for years to come.

Actually it's four and he was by far the most expensive.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Which four?
========

Salah, Kane, Aguero and Sterling.

So at £75m, the second highest transfer in Prem history, 15 league goals is a "bona-fide success"?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Mourinho has nothing to do with the fact that the cost of the acquisition of Lukaku's signature cost United £75m. Nothing whatsoever.

You can judge Mourinho's identification of preferred targets based on the performances of those targets acquired, and their performances alone.

You can judge the club's signing of those same players based on their transfer fees if you wish.

posted on 19/4/18

I can do what the fvck I want really and if Jose has pushed for the target that means the club is more likely to go higher on price. Trying to separate the two is a complete cop out.

To sum up the tedious waffle, Jose is a busted flush. He's been here 2 years and spent a quarter of a billion on a side that matched City with their former manager and star players.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
The Man City side guardiola inherited had De Bruyne, Aguero, Silva, Kompany and Fernandinho, key players in Their title win.The Man Utd side mourinho inhetited had literally only De Gea as top quality. So that Man City side was much stronger to start off with. Guardiola then spent more money than mourinho widening that gap further.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Is that why he does not know his best team or formation?

It is weird that people feel the United side Jose inherited had as many talented players as the City one.

And that people ignore that City had been planning for Peps arrival for some time before he arrived
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's normally the same people who want to see half the squad sold each summer and slaag off each and every one of our players on the match thread each weekend.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I have never called for that. So that is categorically false

Sorry Rosso I cannot accept that a manager and who he targets has absolutely no influence, whatsoever, on what a football club pays for a player. It's nonsense.

Nice swerve there. Funny enough, your partner in crime Robbie is the one that blames the players all the time except when LvG was the manager.

He blamed the players for Moyes' incompetence, blamed the players for Jose's too.

It has been 2 years and he does not know his best team or formation.

No what I’m saying is that that matching you’re talking about is a false reflection of those teams and didn’t happen due to any brilliance from Van Gaal or your squad. It happened because man city did really badly if anything.

Man City have also spent more than Man United since then. And What about the other three teams that finished above Van Gaal? Mourinho has overtaken them.

None of your points make sense and directly contradict each other.

Why don’t you talk about the three other teams that finished above Van Gaal that mourinho has overtaken?

Partner in crime

I was one of the very few people left on here defending LVG at the end of his last season in charge, and it looks like will likely be one of the very few people left defending Jose.

As very large parts of the complaints about LVG had become so ridiculously hyperbolic that people couldn't actually watch then analyse performances sensibly or even recognise good results, the very same thing is happening with Jose.

If we finish second and win the FA Cup, which would be our *third trophy in two seasons*, and people are still calling for the manager's head based on anything other than the style of football, then the only people who should be getting the sack are the fans.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
So you think the manager should be suggesting what he believes might turn out to be cheaper players to the board rather than just the players he'd ideally like, despite the fact the club has the money to spend?

The club spent £75m on Lukaku because Jose wanted him, the player was available at that price and we had the money. Jose won't have given a fack about the cost, and given that the club had and still has additional transfer funds to spend, and that the player has performed well, neither do I and neither should any other United fan.

posted on 19/4/18

No I'm suggesting that the budget will be discussed with the manager and as such the latter will have an effect on what the club pays.

He doesn't give Ed a smack on the ass and just say " Go get 'em big boy" because that could lead to too much of the budget being spent on a player and the manager not being able to get his other targets.

It's preposterous to suggest the transfer budget isn't discussed with the manager.

"I'd like Lukaku"

"Sorry I've just blown all the money on Lindelof"

"Well I wish you'd said as I would rather have other targets for that money".
