Toby will be a big loss for Spurs if he leaves. Sanchez is a good player but he’s no Toby. He’d be a perfect player for Barca to sigh imo, although there will no shortage of takers.

Does Vorm start?

I don’t mind this at all. Gone are the days at Tottenham whereby any player is bigger than the team. Don’t get with the programme, don’t expect games. Simple. Poch comes across as very close to his players but ruthless if you don’t tow the lines. Exactly the approach our managers have lacked for decades. Fergie has He same appproach never seemed to do him any harm.

Whilst I love Toby as a player, if he is acting a gimp through his agent - kudos to Poch for having the kahunas to do exactly what he is doing.

We simply have to start matching the wages on offer elsewhere, or we will never take the final step to silverware.

And if that means selling out to some multi billionaire investor, then so be it. We have tried the organic route and it has only taken us so far, it is unlikely to take us any further. I am fed up of being the nearly men.

Even Fergie pulls the reign in at times with regards to wages ie Tevez being a prime example. I understand your sentiments Billy, but I have complete trust and faith in Poch. I am sure if he really wanted to keep TA he would make it possible. If he views the wage increase as a step to far in regards to player demands so be it let him go. BUT as Poch constantly says, as he did with Walker in the end. It will only be if the offer suits all parties. Only reason Walker wasn’t sold abroad is because at the time there probably wouldn’t have been many major continental players interested.

Why is he acting a gimp,he's rated as one of the top centre backs in the Premier league, and you want him to play for championship wages,if you wont pay him the going rate their are plenty of clubs that will.

Our wages need to be upped to at least Liverpool level now that’s for sure.

Club can’t get away with selling the most expensive tickets without putting it back into the team.

Rumours he agrees terms in principle, only to renege.

That was hyperbole but the point remains. He's one of the best CBs around and should be paid like one.

I feel he needs to play out more than one full season before he demands to paid amongst the best in the world. Don’t forget he has only passed 30 games three times in a career going back to 2007.

If he’s got no long term future then he shouldn’t be used and Poch is doing the right thing in playing Sanchez and Vert ahead of him.

Even if it weakens your chances of the cup? Should we have dropped Drogba from the Munich lineup just because he was leaving afterwards?

really hope Lukaku has a word in his ear at the world cup, we can get rid of dross like Smalling and then Toby can partner Bailly.

Alderwiereld and Vertonghen are the best CB pair in the Prem, and maybe in Europe. We will see at the Wolrd Cup where they will play for Belgium.

Now, exactly WHY is it Toby is leaving?
Is it Pochettino's decision? Or is it Levy?
Toby made a demand for higher wages on a new contract. Levy said "too much". Toby said "that's what I'm worth". Levy said "I don't beleive in the current market prices". And so on .... impasse!
I would think Pochettino is not involved in such discussions.

Truth is Alderwiereld at 29 has maybe 2or 3 more years of top flight football. So I can see why he wants top dollar. And currently he's worth it! Thesedays he can go play in Manchester, Paris, Madrid, Barcelona and maybe Munich. But Levy doesn't want to pay.

So we're stuck with Sanchez and Aurier (or Trippier). And we WILL LOSE. Then Kane will want to leave - his agents will be telling him its time to move up and cash in!
And then ... why there's Vertonghen, Dembele (rumored to be leaving) Danny Rose, ...
And what about those second stringers, Lamela and Mora and ... they're good players too,

Maybe Levy will just have to pay, eventually, whether he believes in market prices or not.

BTW, some of you fans might like to know that Spurs are paying Sissoko 95K GPS per week with 5 years contract remaining.
Harry and Jan get 100,000/wk.
and Toby 75,000/wk.

Spurs rank 6th in the Prem in total wages per week.
Now I will say that if Sissoko is worth what he's getting in Levy's book (and he paid!) then quite a few Spurs salaries should doubled!

Ted, get a grip, Spurs went unbeaten for four months domestically with Verts and Sanchez. Toby is a good player, but he came back against Brighton, and did Spurs win?

posted on 19/4/18

Us not winning Vs Brighton had nothing to do the with defense... another moment of madness from Serge I grant you, but Toby played great, had Murray in his pocket !. The reason we didn't win that game was because we had Sissoko FFS in midfield, Eriksen having an off day & a clearly unfit & rusty Kane
