One massive difference
The World Cup is in Russia, nowhere else, if you want to play in the World Cup, you have to go there
We have decided to go to burma.
The people who are defending it, are the same idiots (stoopo and lubo) who do it every time with every owner.

I'm really not trying to support the trip - it's a nonsensical, on soooo many levels, idea.
But there are options about going to Russia - USA have shown that. Given recent events, both in Salisbury and in Syria, then there should be a similar clamour for our NATIONAL side to not be seen supporting a regime - i.e. Putin - that advocates, supplies and uses chemical weapons on civilian areas. As for the reception from host nation fans, that will surely await ours, it's a completely stupid decision to go - in my view.

But yes Jonty - to answer you're original point - lack of thought referring to a "fan" as an idiot - hardly endearing choice of words right now ........ (perhaps shows a guy very much on the defensive and showing frailty around this trip decision)......
Not defending the decision, but are we just gonna ignore that if it was Manchester Kardashians or yhe London branch of the Russian Mafia making this trip the media would be applauding them for years?

We aren't supporting their government and we aren't supporting the genocide that is happening 300 miles away either.
We are going to play football....and I would imagine plenty of Burmese people will be looking forward to us playing there.
I can book a luxury holiday online right now to the 2 places we are playing, it is not a war torn country. Its a complete overreaction.

I've just read what AR says on the Leeds web site, and I see nothing of fan bashing and a Man putting across something that hopefully helps people in the region!..
If he was someone going over using the club as a way to sell arms than the outcry is ok, but he isn't!..
Well at least I hope he isn't!..
