If liverpool dont win the CL would klopp still be showing poch up?

A lot of people seem to forget that owners decide how good a team is as much as managers do.

Dismissing how good a manager's trophy wins are because of how much they spend is stupid because not all clubs have the same owners. Some owners may handicap a manager more than others.

And turning a poor team into a dominant trophy winnibg team without money is a bit like trying to find a needle in a haystack the size of jupiter

Can't really understand the reaction from Spurs fans about Poch in the last few weeks. He's got you punching above your weight for a few seasons now. He's not a miracle worker. He's doing very well with the tools he's been given. Put him in charge of Utd with their 1 billion a week wage structure and watch how well he does.

From some Spurs fans I should say***

There's a sense of entitlement about the reaction, like we SHOULD be winning every game and every trophy, reality will kick in soon.

I'm only frustrated we've not won a cup, I know the league is well out of touch.

Agree with this but Im not suggesting that Poch should be winning the League or Champs at Spurs but for that to be his stated focus is stupid. With what he has at his disposal, this team should have been easily good enough in the past 3 years to win a Cup of some sort... I think the blame lays with Poch for that

Great article OP, and Poch does get an easy ride from some of our supporters. He has been at the club now for four years, with the best set of players I have seen since the early 1960s, and he is further away then ever from winning a trophy.

Good manager yes, but that is as far as it goes. He has a lot to prove in my opinion. Bit silly to go overboard about a manager who has still to win a trophy in 10 years of management.

Prove me wrong Poch and win a trophy.

Go back to what we was before poch and see the resources he’s had to reboot the whole club then tell me he’s overrated.

The amount of dross he had at the club and got rid of was ridiculous, he's doing a fine job

Bit of strength in dept and luck and we're well on our way, time and patience

Put it this way..... does anyone think Klopp, Pep, Jose, Conte or even Uncle Arsene (FFS) would have won a cup in the last 4 years given the ups and down of our rivals with a team containing the likes of Hugo, Jan, Toby, Walker, Rose, Dembele, Dier, Eriksen, Dele & Kane ?..... Personally I think they would

Yep he had to start from scratch. Players like Verts & Lloris wanted out and players like capoue and Adebayor strolling around doing fack all.

It will happen, just the model of the club makes the progress longer.

Clubs like City, United, Chelsea spend big to risk big

Time is the main factor. He's been here 4 seasons and the progress is pretty staggering. Top 4 three out of four times (likely). Along with some cup runs.

If he stays a few more seasons we'll see what else we can achieve wont we no way he's getting sacked but might walk if this trophy thing becomes too much and we start losing key players. (Kane, Eriksen, Dele)

Wow. Talk about an overreaction to losing the semi final. We've come so far under Poch and open the doors to new WHL in a few months. Yes, there have been some frustrations at times, definitely some cup games where we've let ourselves down, but overall the strides forward have been immense. The way some fans will turn on a guy is so disappointing.

As for Klopp showing him up? How exactly, because Liverpool are having a good CL run? They've got Salah doing a Suarez, he didn't play at the weekend they drew 2-2 with WBA, he came off last night and Roma are back in the tie. Also, the Man City tie apart Liverpool coup not have hand picked their CL group and KO ties better, whereas we got lumbered with Europe's best sides every step of they way. I like Klopp, but he's getting the rub of the green at the moment IMO. We've had to navigate this season without a home and if we wrap up top 4 we'll have done that better than most of us expected, but no, let's start running Poch out of town and jump back on that managerial merry go round that we all used to love so much.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
All Fair points mate & I'm not running him out of town at all, but getting rid of the deadwood was 4 years ago !!! & I don't think you can use Salah as a swipe against Klopp when Kane has been nothing but a goal machine for Poch

Are they really punching above their weight though?

They've got arguably the best striker in the league over the past few seasons

They had the best defence in the league

One of the strongest midfields in the league

One of the best keepers in the league

They should be challenging for things in my opinion.
You can say they don't spend as much which is true, but they have the players at the club already so it's irrelevant in that respect.

Yeah the 90's, let's go back to finishing 14th every year, getting slapped by Arsenal every season and winning a league cup once a decade - they were the days.
