Yeah, everyone is an expert with the benefit of hindsight

Think it’s was just lazy/poor foresight from personal at the club not to realise the potential both players obviously have. A clear lack of attention was put towards their development obviously. Both were touted as extremely talented players prior to moving to Chelsea, so it’s understandable to be a little disappointed with their progression at the club.

I didn’t think Salah was that bad the couple of times he played for us.

And KDB looked composed but Jose did not like his work rate

its clearly a problem as its not just a one off, Chelsea have purchased a lot of talent over the past few years, most don't get a look in or are loaned out constantly from the off. So i think they have a right to ask questions Chelsea might not wna hear.

Yep I can honestly say I backed Salah to the fullest while he was at the club and I was distraught to see him go as I was always certain of his immense potential.

Agreed. I thought he looked exciting but got shot down. My main issue is the lack of gametime any new signings seem to get bar the odd exception. It's strange.

Salah was ripping it up at Basle and had a very good game against us that night in the champions league which convinced us to buy him. the club need to look at what it did wrong and make sure it doesn't do it again.

Tbh, we have decent wide attackers in Willian peds and Haza.

We miss the control that KDB would give us far more

They are unlikely to be the last two as well considering the sheer number of talented youngsters in the Chelsea loan farm and the unders sides.

Thing with salah is he's not an out and out wide player, he plays as a right forward, kind of like henry did on the left for arsenal or like ronaldo now. usually ends up just inside the box rather than out wide.

so wouldn't have to had been direct competition for willian/pedders

I cant be sure about KDB but OP is definitely right about Salah. any non Liverpool fan who says thry didnt think he would flop this time last year is lying.

There's a difference between spotting potential and forcasting the.future. it doesnt that chelsea both as a club and as a fanbase expect to win trophies each year and want the manager to be sacked if they dont. How is any manager supposed to develop raw talent in that environment when both the club and fans demand the finished article?

To slightly defend Chelsea a little; they buy (or develop through the academy) a lot of potential talent. Of course it's a little galling when one that turns out to be exceptional slips through the net but it's also nothing new in football. There's plenty of stories of younger players being let go and being successful elsewhere.

Off the top of my head you have the likes of Marin, Schurrle, Sinclair, Mancienne, Kakuta, Romeu, McEachran, van Ginkel, Zouma - and I'm sure there are many, many more who aren't coming to mind.

Point being, Chelsea get it right far more often than they get it wrong.

Didn’t give two fecks about Salah but I was raging we sold KDB

I wonder if our current XI would beat our top reject XI??

Schurle, KDB, Salah, Lukaku, Ake, Bats, Chalobah, Zouma, Bertrand, etc

Cech in goal, Mata in AM too. Maybe Oscar? Robben would still get a game even though he looks about 50 too

Very true. And in some respects it makes dealing with the pain of seeing Salah tearing it up a little bit easier, because NO-ONE saw this player lurking underneath the pace pony he was for us. How can we begrudge the club for failing to see what none of us saw?

KDB is slightly different. I personally saw little difference between him & Oscar and completely trusted Mourinho's judgement at the time, but there's no denying there was talent that we'd seen prior to selling him - at Werder Bremen & in glimpses for us in pre-season. Not the case with Salah what so ever.
