I never said Iron Man in the MCU wasn’t popular, although box office figures are not solely down to him.
There’s no doubt he is popular, but my point Is if you introduce Spider-Man, why does it need to be done where he is begging to be in the team and Iron Man is treating him like a pet. When they did have the rights to Spider-Man, there was no need to go down that route. Make Iron Man as strong and powerful as you like but not at the expense of others.
Secondly, whilst Iron Man is popular, there are still many that don’t like the story with Spider-Man and why him and Happy Hogan need to babysit him all the time.
Spider-Man could’ve been done so much better without Iron Man father son story, that’s my opinion.
Hulk could’ve been done a lot better too, although his issues are not so much Iron Man related to be fair, but I didn’t like how Hulk has to use Iron Man suit in IW instead of I don’t know just
To be honest, I liked what they did with Peter Parker. He's a kid. There is no way he wouldn't be a little intimidated by the rest of the Avengers, especially when he's new to his powers and wouldn't be confident of suddenly becoming any kind of 'leader' among established heroes.
With Spiderman there's plenty of room for him to grow as a character and I've no doubt that over the next few years we'll see him do that, and become the character that I think you want him to be. I suspect the plan is that the events of IW and EG will help him grow from a boy to a man.
I guess i'm preaching patience my friend
I liked how he was portrayed in Civil War, he seemed like this special kid who was a little overwhelmed but could hold his own.
It was Homecoming where I really got annoyed with what happened with Tony Stark and Happy Hogan treating him like chewing gum on the end of their shoe.
IW and EG were a bit better, but still not as good as Civil War.
This is one of the reason I liked the first Avengers so much, the big four in particular (the ones with their own movies beforehand) were all given importance.
To counter that, the way Stark and Hogan treated him is entirely in keeping with their characters, particularly Tony Starks. Can you imagine him treating Peter as an equal? I can't. As the movies went on, Spidey started to prove himself but Stark was always going to have that kind of father-figure relationship with him. I thought it was an important part of the development of both characters and, dare i say, realistic.
As a father myself, I hope I never treat my kids the way Stark and Hogan treated Spiderman in Homecoming.
I don't think it was realistic at all, in fact it made both of their characters unlikable.
Stark redeemed himself a bit in IW and EG thankfully.
Civil War, the relationship was fine IMO.

I don’t want to keep going round in circles as we have different opinions on what we prefer.
However, my last point on this is if Iron Man was selfish in Phase 1, it was quite consistent, but Homecoming was way into Phase 3, not 1. I expected a bit more growth from him at that point.

I’ve loved the Tony/Parker arc tbh
I think the problem is you guys can’t handle a difference of opinion, every time anything gets criticised, another one of you jumps in to back the other, it’s really childish and means that this forum is only for people that love the film. It is possible to like the films and not like Tony Stark.
It also is possible to think that the relationship started ok in Civil War and regressed in Homecoming. There’s no right or wrong opinion. You want to start a fan site where no one can criticise your beloved Tony Stark, then make that clear. But you are ruining the site for anyone that wants to discuss the movies because we are not allowed to criticise.
This is the second time you’ve said something like this
This is a forum where people right comments and others respond.
This particular thread has been excellent before you came on it and will continue to be.
If you can’t deal with people responding and sometimes challenging particular opinions then that’s your problem
Complete nonsense.
Basically every single one of my comments about the film has been challenged and I’ve still come back and said my comments. What I don’t like is how you guys start a clique and keep backing each other up whenever someone dislikes anything about the movie.
Fat Thor people hated, yet 3 of you jump up to defend
All the women being in one scene was forced - yet 3 of you jump in to defend
Spider-Mans arc was criticised - 3 of you jump to defend
Individual films after Avengers were criticised - yet 3 of you jump to defend it
Prof Hulk was criticised - oh Guv hates it too, now we are all allowed to hate it. Playground behaviours
You loved this site before I came because you don’t like being challenged. The only criticisms that seem valid are your own or mainly Guvs. You got it the wrong way round.
Yes it’s called a discussion board.
We discussed everything before you joined the thread and will continue to do so after
In a discussion board you should have your own opinion
By the way, I don’t know who made you King of the thread and the voice of everyone’s opinions, but if you can’t handle my opinions on the movie, please ban me. I really couldn’t care less.
I can handle opinions and can handle people challenging mine unlike you.
As for banning you why would I? (not even the op anyway)
Like I said this is a discussion board and if you keep on posting I’ll keep on challenging if I don’t agree or haven’t seen something the same way as you.
If you can’t handle it then that’s your problem.
Anyway that’s it from me
Guv,
You watched any of the interviews with the Russo bros?
Got a couple saved on YouTube for viewing later
JustTrue, it strikes me that you want to have your opinion but dont' like it being challenged, which makes you a bit of a hypocrite
Do you want people to back up your opinion even though they don't agree?
I really don't get your point bud. You've said your view, people disagree, they've said so. What's the problem champ?
Hope we can all chill
This is just meant to be a light hearted thread about movies and comics lads
I completely forgot I was OP till just now
