What exactly are Disney and Feige going to do with X-Men that's so much better than what we've already seen? Personally I've seen more than enough X-Men now over countless movies.

And we've already had fantastic actors like Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen and Michael Fassbender play Professor X and Magneto. And you're not going to get a better Wolverine in the MCU than Hugh Jackman's version.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You say this but then aren’t you excited to see the next new ( about 50th ) batman?

A bit of a contradiction isn’t it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not really, we've had ten X Men movies already, excluding the two Deadoool movies. That's more than enough X Men for me personally. Certainly for the time being.

As for Batman I definitely want to see more of Affleck's Batman as he's my favourite onscreen Batman and we've only really seen him in two movies. One of them being Justice League where his role was essentially butchered by Joss Whedon.

Would be nice if they could do Dark Phoenix and Apocalypse some justice.

Is it a competition between Marvel and DC then?

If so then I'm willing to bet that the next few years sees much more enjoyable content from DC. By contrast at Marvel you can look forward to Captain Marvel heading the Avengers with a female Thor. Can't wait
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Let's hope DC can pull up their socks. As it stands now Marvel have torn them a new one like never before and from the little I know of what is coming, DC will continue in the shadow of Marvel.

Agreed. One would be forgiven for thinking Dark Phoenix and Apocalypse were done by DC and WB. They were that poor IMO. More waste of epic villains in Apocalypse.

Guv, yep agree with that. Disney will have so many good characters to work with now they’ve got F4 and X-Men. I’m looking forward to seeing what they do with them.

Again Superb, you can feel like we've seen enough X men iterations but the same could be said of Superman and Batman.

We've had 8 Batman standalone movies and that's not including Justice League or BVS and we are set to get another trilogy.

We've had 7 Superman standalone movies and that's not including Justice League.

If you're concerned about characters being done over repeatedly, you've picked the wrong movie genre. That's the beauty of these characters, each director will have their own perception and idea of what the character should represent, hence why we will continue to get Superman,Batman, Spiderman etc movies.

Nolan's Batman was very different to Snyder's depiction and I expect Matt Reeves vision to be something different too.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Presumably you're counting Dawn of Justice as standalone Batman and Superman movies which I'm not sure you can as it's more of an ensemble movie featuring Wonder Woman as well.

To my count there have been 6 standalone Superman movies since 1978. That's just 6 movies over 42 years which certainly isn't that much.

As for Batman I'm counting 7 standalone movies since 1989 as Affleck didn't actually get a standalone movie. That's 7 movies over a 31 year period with multiple iterations and four different actors.

That pales in comparison the 10 XMen movies we've had since 2000. That's 10 movies in 20 years which is a movie every other year over 20 years. That's an oversaturation of Xmen in my book and that's not even counting the Deadpool movies which are essentially Xmen movies as well.

Technically it's not Marvel it's Disney. And Warner Brothers have been making all the DC movies including the Nolan Batman trilogy which was a huge success before anyone knew what the MCU even was.

But if you're excited for the future of Marvel then so be it. Personally I seriously doubt that Disney will be able to replicate the extreme success they've had with the MCU over the next decade. I think we've already seen the best of what they have to offer.

The future of the MCU looks like Brie Larson's Captain Marvel heading the Avengers and Natalie Portman playing Thor. Good luck with that.

DC movies are going in a whole new different direction that isn't restrained by just one cinematic universe as we've seen with Joker and how we'll see in the upcoming Matt Reeves Batman trilogy. Exciting times ahead.

We saw what Disney did to the Star Wars trilogy, do people really think they’re gonna make some sort of improvement to the superhero franchises?

This doesn’t make any sense when they’ve put the superhero franchise on the map.

I dont trust anyone to do either Apocalypse or Dark Phoenix now

Apocalypse story line especially is better done on a tv show

This is not realistic. You must be a lover of DC and want them to do well, no?

The question is, will DC ever reach the level we've already seen from the MCU so far? I doubt they ever will unless they reboot nearly everything. Their foundations are utter rubbish IMO.

Growing up I liked DC more that Marvel but only by a slice of a nose. Had to admit that Marvel are wipin the floor with them. If they do what you said in the coming years I will be glad but I just don't see it.

It should have been a series of movies, maybe starting with the horsemen and building up to a finale.

Like in the comics and what Marvel have done.

Why is it not realistic ? From everything I've heard that's exactly what is being planned. Brie Larson's Captain Marvel is going to take Cap's role as the head of the Avengers and Natalie Portman is set to replace Hemsworth as Thor.

If that's not true then please correct me by all means.

And if it is true then it sounds like an awful idea. Very few people like Brie Larson's Captain Marvel character and does anyone really want to see Thor's girlfriend become Thor ? I certainly don't. That's the PC direction that Disney appear to be taking the MCU though.

I'm a very concerned fan who has loved the last decade of the MCU and just because I'm questioning that it doesn't make me a DC fan. That's a ridiculous assumption.

Can I just say that Sups never wanted that fight with Bats. You just know that he was holding off. He could literally kill him with one punch if he wanted to.

I always said the moment they confirmed Doomsday in the trailer, they killed that movie. I know everyone knew that it wasn't going to be just BvS but they should've still played into it.

Anyways agree with there being little hype for phase 4 with regards to Marvel. It's just going to be story building. Plus now they have all these shows that intertwines with the MCU...I dunno. For me it feels like a full time job just to keep up with everything. They're just flooding the market with too much content to the point that I'm already losing interest lol

The kids will suck it up though and that's where the money is so you can't blame them.

My main problem with the likes of superman & captain marvel is they are so powered I just don’t have any concern when they are fighting.

The likes of Capt America, Iron man, Batman yes you know they’ll win but there’s times when you know that they could lose.

Agreed but sometimes it depends on the villain they present. Marvel played it perfectly and it really looked like they could lose. In the end they didn't even really win, did they?

Villains like Brainiac, Doomsday and Darkseid have real potential if used well. In the comics Superman loses to Darkseid a lot, for instance and they have to do a flashpoint to reset everything afterwards.

DC are flooding the TV market just as much as Marvel. Perhaps they can compete on TV but so far the big screen belongs to Marvel IMO.

It was more of a query

Who else would you have leading the avengers? Iron man is dead, Cap is dead. I dunno but maybe it's not permanent and will lead to something else etc.

Lady Thor is a genuine story line from the comic books, which is another thing I think Marvel could do better but still, they do it better than DC.

No need to pre judge IMO. Lady Thor will not replace Thor. In fact it could turn out decent. Thor movies have a lot of good humour and the manner in which she becomes Lady Thor in the comic books is a bit humorous.

I think she'll somehow become worthy of wielding Mjolnir but probably won't replace Thor, who might still have Stormbreaker.

You never know so it may turn out crap but I can't be less confident in Marvel than DC judging from previous performance. Look at Wonder Woman. The stand alone movie was great IMO but the follow up in BvS just makes it all a bit pointless.
