I used to work in the digital tv industry, sky always knew what something was worth to them but times have changed and companies with deep pockets entered the market. In principle it’s good but it annoys the sheet out of me... at least when sky had everything you knew where to go for your sports coverage. Now you have to d*ck about working out who has what this week.

LIW offers good advice, and for those not aware it works in most service industries. They have customer service teams that offer diddly, if you threaten to leave you go to the churn team and they are empowered to offer you what they can to stay.. because it costs them more to get a new customer than to keep an old one.

Sometimes it’s easier to strike up a bit up of banter, say you're Thinking of leaving & weighing up your options ‘what’s the best deal you can give me To stay?’

My problem is I get a deal and forget when I’ve come off it, in fact I think I’m overdue a call to sky so thanks for the reminder!

personally I find sky very good. as long as you're prepared to pay, the boxing ppv fights annoy me a little I guess, but coverage wise, news wise, its by far the best. Long gone are the days where you'd have to buy a paper or look on teletext searching for sports news, its all on 409 within an instant.

remember the days where grandstand was you're only sporting TV day on the bbc?

nowadays sky will be showing the rugby, a football game, the snooker, the cricket all at the same time and you can flick between them all at your leisure..

I think with sky sports, its a case of an easy target, but take it away and we'll soon reaslise how good it was (providing you like all sports to be fair) - if you only ever watch football, that would frustrating because CL on BT etc etc.

When I was going through my divorce 3 years ago, as part of cost saving measures (she fleeced me for everything!!) ... I cancelled my Sky subscription.

I managed to last 3 months before signing up again. I couldn't bear not having the sports channels - which as has been said are excellent. Yes you pay, but average it out per event over a month and it's cheap as chips.

The only issue I have with Sky is the other 1,000,000,000,000 channels that I simply never use/view. Anyone else have the option for a gazillion channels but end up defaulting to the usual dozen and nothing more ?!?!?!?

yep VOF... short of the sports channels, uk gold (only fools and horses) fox (the walking dead), I'm not sure I use any of them hahaha. oh and kids channels.

what I really like though is the catch up, sky cimena etc... also you can re-watch any fight you want, as it has a dedicated section for the boxing.

compare to grandstand with old Des every Saturday

I got given a fire stick with codi on it, I gave up after about five minutes unplugged it and never went back

It was garbage, and I just don’t see the point of fire sticks, I have tablets and a PS4 which I can stream amazon on, as well as Netflix, Now, bbc, uktv player etc through.

Why do I want some stupid stick that dosent stream as much on?

Never understood the appeal of fire sticks.

Liw is right, figure out what you actually use and pay for it, people only end up paying over the odds when they sign up for stuff they don’t really use or want. All the main streaming services are cheap enough to make having them, if you use them, worth it
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Firesticks are quality if you pay - just use kodi and get the free streams - pretty rubbish and unbearable.

We have a place in spain - so have had to keep sky and multiroom (so we can take a card to spain and put it in the box there and get sky)

but recently trialled this SET TV for 20 dollars a month and has everything on it.

just depends what sports you like too - im massive football and also really into MMA so need BT and Sky becomes a bit silly.

Below is from an article in the Daily Telegraph. Doesn’t say it will be free and knowing Sky they will put the prices up in January 2019
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sky and BT have reached an agreement allowing the two rivals to sell their channels on one another's platforms, in a move that could strengthen their bargaining position on sports broadcasting rights against digital disruptors.
Under the deal, Sky will gain access to BT Sport content, including Premier League, Champions League and Europa League football, which it can offer through a single Sky subscription.
Meanwhile BT set-top boxes will make Sky's Now TV service - which includes Sky Atlantic, Sky One, Sky Living, Sky Sports and Sky Cinema - available to its customers. BT will sell Now TV on Sky's behalf.
The new services will be available to Sky's 22.5m subscribers and BT TV's 1.8m customers from early 2019. Jeremy Darroch, group chief executive of Sky, said that the move was part of the company's stated strategy to "enhance our customer offering, to broaden our appeal and to open up new revenue streams for our business”.

Lots of guys on here use High's links to get free coverage to matches. Strikes me as sheer hypocrisy to do that and then moan that money isn't going to Leeds.
I know Wakey and others are ST holders so cash is going directly to the club.
My way of seeing matches isn't 100% legit but I am at least contributing.
Those of you who are using facebook links need to take a long hard look.

Good point ----- if we could access and pay a fiver for the game over here.

I only ever stream bbc Leeds as I live slightly outside the radio frequency area.

As I’ve already paid for a license fee I don’t see how I’m robbing from the club.
