So basically Klopp is the new Wenger?

Weren't Liverpool mocking Spurs fans over the "net spend" trophy?

OP conveniently forgets to mention that in that time they RECEIVED over £200million for Suarez, Sterling & Couthino which distorts the picture for any spending.

This Net Spend thing is only good if you are achieving the desired results.

What is more interesting is a club's income versus its wages and other outgoing revenues.

Incorrect. Not deducting fees received would distort the figures.

Yes, Liverpool received large fees for this players - but they then can't use this players and so their team has been weakened by their sale. To only use gross spend would imply that they have spent money on the team and still have access to these great players.

Net spend does have a weakness, however, which is that ot is based on an arbitrary start point. This ignores the value of the squad before that date, So a team could spend hugely initially and then tone it down but still have an expensive squad.

The best method is to look at the overall squad value during any given season as this compares the squads directly. The difficulty with this is that players bought 5 years ago will look much cheaper because of the football inflation over those years - so this needs to be accounted for. It is also difficult to assign value to free, or academy players

Its all well and good saying but you got money for Suarez, Sterling and Coutinho, sure yeah we did, but which other top 6 team lost their key players over the past few seasons? Sanchez and Walker being the main ones i can think of.

We didnt just get money for nothing we lost WORLD CLASS players ffs, it distorts nothing The fees we got back for Benteke etc and the profits on Ibe and Sakho etc distort it more surely?

Just nonsense isn't it. If nothing else Liverpool are going to make a MASSIVE amount of money from it.

Has anybody said Claudio Ranieri?

Its nice to see utd buy their success in the cups in that table

the national aspirations of the UAE means that no club can compete with them financially

It is good however to see that arsenal have been outed as willing to spend but have done a terrible job bat it by letting a 50mil asset in sanchez walk for very little

LFC have sold 3 players for massive money. coutinho suarez sterling. that balance all the rest out... but klopp's job in picking only guys he will play and have fitted in has been frankly astounding.

not one guy has failed.

Yes let’s look at it Klopps transfers Mane redeemed very inconsistent when signing, Salah regarded a Chelsea flop and written off by some before a ball was kicked, the Ox surpassing anything he did at Arsenal in terms of being more consistent not quite there yet but everyone can see an improvement, Firmino from 11 goals a season to 27 one could argue his only ready made big signing was Van Diijk. He took a massive risk not replacing Coutinho in January according to most experts. In a season losing our so called best player he has propelled us to a CL final. Our whole front three combined the current best front three in Europe all of them bought for less than half what United paid for Lukaku. We have went from buying Stewart Downings and Benteke’s for similar maker values at time of purchase to buying Salah’s and Mane’s to me the man is a world class in the transfer market...

We brought these players, made them better and sold them for massive money. This has enable the team to be developed that today plays some of the best football you can see, has better the 100 point domestic champions 3 times out of 4 and looks forward to the CL final and CL football again next season. I'd say JK is doing the job at the moment

We don't aspire to just be in a competition....we actually try to win it! There is to much talk of building...building what? You can soon waste plenty of money in football!

What would you know about how it feels seeing your team reach the final of the most prestigious competition in club football?

Infac, t what would any spurs fan know?

4th and a Champions league final in a season where you pretty much played at a half pace for 6 of the last 7 games is a better achievement than being two points ahead in 3rd. The fact it’s the biggest final in football kinda makes any Spurs fan gloating about this two point gap look rather idiotic and that’s coming from your own fans who actually have an understanding of football.

So us getting to the final is ‘making up the numbers’ if we lose. Meanwhile Spurs finishing 3rd in the league is something to be reasonably pleased about.

Spurs fan logic

They just don't know what to do right now on here. The team they have convinced themselves they are superior to due to our almost decade in the wilderness is back and its in a CL final. They are clinging to this league thing to give themselves a fake sense of self importance. Unfortunately the sleeping giant that is Liverpool has awoken and they are going back where they belong in the food chain. Below us..

If you win it, great.

Lets be honest, as good an achievement as it is, you have only faced one elite side so far. City aside, you could not have picked a better run.

We lost to the 2nd elite side we faced. If Liverpool lose this will be exactly the same.
