Will I feck. Even if I could afford to travel over for all the home games to buy the programs to collect the stickers, I still wouldn't get a season ticket thanks to all the glory hunting plastics that have come out of the woodwork since we hit the big time!

This deal for Jonny/Castro/Otto (what the heck do we call him?) deal with Athletico signing him and then shipping him straight out to us. Seen it happen elsewhere of course, but whereas in the Afobe deal we were in charge and got a good deal out of it, with Jonny I'm not so sure whether we are the pawns in that deal. If he does well for us, what happens next? Do we get an option to buy? If so it will be at something above what Atletico will have paid Celta Vigo, if Madrid want him back again we get nothing in return. Either way it would feel like we've been mugged off somewhat.

On the other hand we will have had the services of a quality player for a season having only paid for his wages. Happens a lot these days, particularly with players who's quality is maybe unproven.

Repetitive and indeed unnecessary use if the word 'deal' there.

from what I can gather he's decent, not sure if I like "inverted" wingers or wingbacks - if he's on the left being a right footer he's either gonna be cutting inside or fecking turning round to cross the ball

I think Castro was a really good opportunistic signing and just as last season when we got in good players on loan that decided to stay, maybe he will do the same. My understanding was that Athletico had been wanting to sign this guy for ages but when the opportunity came this summer they would have busted ffp by keeping him. So our friendly agent Mr Mendes fixed up a deal that suited everyone

Accept what you are saying about right footers on the left tino but the big plus is he can play right or left. He has evidently been outstanding for Celta Vigo on the left but if Doc got injured we could switch him and bring in Vinagre or Giles on the left. So we have solved our cover problems by signing one player instead of two and the sale of Douglas more than covers the loan fee for Castro.

I have a feeling we will now set up another transfer where the fees are offset by signing Traore and selling Cavaleiro

yea versatility is useful in a squad game, and clearly to have been capped by Spain (at U21) and signed by Atletico, he has a certain pedigree.

Adama from what i've seen whilst very raw has explosive pace, think he'd be a good addition - better than Cav, not sure but perhaps has a higher ceiling for improvement

Official: Atlético Madrid have signed Sporting winger Gelson Martins on a free transfer after he terminated his deal with Os Leões early last month.

The 23-year-old Portuguese international, who leaves Sporting after 8 years and 140 games, has put pen to paper on a 5-year deal.

Not looking good for Sporting getting any dosh for Patricio is it?

We should buy / keep them both, and leave them on the bench whilst we sign Bale

Zinchenko has decided he wants to stay at Man City ending that transfer speculation

With Harry Maguire linked with a move to Man Ut, Wolves now linked with United’s Marcus Rojo

Wouldn't be against Rojo. United play him in the middle but I seem to remember him playing LWB for Argentina at the 2014 world cup

Ex Crewe boss Steve Davis has been hired to look after a group of players that the club are trying to find loan or permanent transfers. The list of players include Gladon, Zyro, Iorfa, Ronan, Ebanks Landell, Mason, Graham, Ofuso-Ayeh, Ronan and Deslandes.

The makings of a decent championship squad in that lot

GEM - do what you need to do to get this back at the top of the page, its slipped on to p2 !!

That group 3 squad certainly has some decent players. Really disappointed that Ronan hasnt developed more, he looked like a star in the making. No one knows what Ofuso Ayeh can do and Im not convinced that Gladon is half as bad as people like to make out. Jordan Graham is possibly the biggest frustration though, whether its his attitude or ability holding him back, he seemed to have the credentials to succeed under Nuno, he just hasn't grabbed his chance.

joke of the day

Meanwhile, Spurs are reportedly confident that they can still broker a bargain deal for Jack Grealish, in spite of the fresh investment at Villa Park.

Grealish was expected to move to London in a cut-price deal amid Tony Xia's cash crisis, but following the fresh investment at the club Villa are now less inclined to do a quick deal.

It's thought that Spurs want to pay around £20m for the youngster, with Villa valuing him at almost double that amount.
