Lots of players to go out during the next couple of weeks but they will be going to lower league clubs. I don't think Cavaleiro will be one of them.

Keeping Cavaleiro is as good as making a signing and yeah no way he drops down a division though I have no idea if foreign leagues can still sign our players?

Yes they can but I still don't think he is going anywhere. My next post will explain why I think that.

How to cover every position with a 21 man squad

Knew you were about to do that, i was gonna do the same but didn't wanna steal your thunder

Not a bad looking squad now overall though a few holes in it i feel like getting rid of Douglas which just seems plain daft to me given we are now short one fullback.

Also not overly impressed with our centre forward options and would not be surprised to see Cav or Jota get time in there, i just do not think Bonatini is good enough for this level.

Defence could have done with one more though it is quite possible Dendoncker is earmarked for one of those spots now, Coady/Batth concerns me a little as well but hopefully Coady carries on his fine form from last season.

As i said earlier, 8/10 overall from me and come January we will have a much clearer view as to who can cut it at this level.

Not quite covered Gem. What happens if 2 of the 3 wing backs are out? Douglas? Oh no!

posted on 9/8/18

Not bad Gem, but I'd swap Dendonker with Saiss, as the former played the latter part of last season on the right side of a back three with Anderlecht.

Plus the latter played very well alongside Neves last season.

Yeah I agree, think Saiss will be used more as a last twenty mins 'finisher' in midfield more than in defence unless we have injuries.

Ironically given the personnel 3-4-3 probably isn't the best formation now.

We have done good my threadster brethren

Douglas was a great servant to the cause and very sad to see him leave...but if were to challenge for honours , he’s not good enough

Glad Cav stayed ...

RCH a concern for me

Have ‘wood’ ...and looking forward to watching this lot beat the toffee’s

Can’t wait for the new season and subsequent MT’s !

Wulf hat's when Ran Giles steps into the spotlight and I have no doubt whatever that he can cut it.

Is Ofusu Ayeh injured still?

posted on 9/8/18

I think Giles may well prove to be more ready to step up than Vinagre. And the big advantage of signing Dendoncker and Castro is that they are comfortable in more than one position.

Be interesting to see who acts as first cover for Patricio. Norris was used more in pre season than Ruddy

Pretty much sums up my feelings, though not so worried about Coady.

A very very good but not quite perfect window. Some amazing signings but not sure we've strengthened in every area we needed to.

Everton have probably done enough today to ensure they finish comfortably above the likes of us, Burnley, and Leicester. Little doubt they will have their Europa league place back next season. Just hope we catch them before they click.

Astonishing to me that people should pick holes in the squad after the most amazing transfer window in the club’s history. It is sad we aren’t better than Man City but it’s not sad that we go into the new season with the strongest squad we have had in the history of the Premier League. Surely a time for joy not for picking faults. Fosun have done us proud

We have to debate on a forum DJ, it’s how it works

Yes and I’m giving my opinion

Interested to read that with regard to colour blindness green and red will from now on be considered the same colour in the Premier League so a team could not have a strip in one of these colours if the opposition are wearing the other

Going to be interesting to see whether transfer windows will ever be the same again. Free movement of labour across the eu is a principle followed at the moment. But after brexit that won’t be the case and we may need work permits to bring in more Portuguese players and unless they are seasoned internationals then those permits may not be granted

I think everybody can agree it has been our best window ever overall but that does not mean it was flawless as it certainly wasn't.

What a shame for Villa. Bristol City’s Joe Bryan agreed terms with them and a transfer fee was agreed. He then went to the hospital to complete the final tests for his medical. The tests were fine so he drove back to Villa’s training ground to sign on the line and complete the transfer. But on the way he got a call from Fulham and decided to go there instead
