If I were a rangers fan I would take positives from that game too - dembeles goal just befor ht changed the complexion. I don’t think we played that well but rangers did compete well in that game

As someone alluded to recently that the cup game was an anomaly due to the previous OF games, I think it's more likely that the 3-2 game was the anomaly.

Rangers gave us a game in the 2nd half of the CP draw around Xmas time and also gave us a game in the first half of the 3-2 game but that's it to be perfectly honest.

The idea that Rangers do have quality players seems to be trotted out every summer more in hope than expectation.

Tavernier and perhaps Morelos are about only the two players really capable of being at a level to challenge consistently throughout the season.

Just my opinion of course

I imagine pre season for Rangers will begin in 3 weeks time since the first qualifier is on July 12th.

McGregor seems like a pointless signing unless we are selling Foderingham imo.

Goldson from Brighton isn't great so worrying if he's a CB we have identified, much rather go try get Bartley from Swansea.

We may not need to get as many bodies in up front but we still have to get it right and get at least one main goal scorer in.

Morelos would be good used as a second striker as he puts in so much work, but neither him or Cummings should be our main striker.

In midfield I'd say along with Arfield we have Jack, McCrorie, Docherty and Holt to give us graft. I'm assuming Windass will be off. Big question marks over Dorrans. I think midfield will be fine.

Wingers I'm quite happy with.

Still don't know what's happening with Wallace. Hopefully Tav will still be here. Declan is decent without being a stand out. Could do with RB cover and maybe another LB.

Need to get one experienced CB and one younger to partner him then I think we're good to go.

We reduced a 35 point gap to a 12 point gap

If we continue that rate of improvement next season we will win the league
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Eh ah thin Celtic reduced the gap for the most part - dropping 24 points more this season than last season - including 6 points we had to throw for the greater good

The 3-2, or 0-0, or 2-0 games were more normal games of football

The 2-0 game Celtic dominated from start to finish and missed numerous chances.

The 0-0 game Celtic could have scored 2 or 3 first half, Rangers the same in the 2nd half.

The 3-2 game Rangers came flying out and were the better side first half, tbh it could have been 4-4 at HT but 2nd half Celtic started better and even after the sending off, we actually looked the more capable team.

I agree to an extent with what you are getting at Smid but the score line in those games probably clouds the judgement of how the games actually went.

The gap this season is far greater than that of last season make no mistake about that.

Celtic could never have hit the same level of consistency and I genuinely believe Rangers are worse with absolutely no sign of any progression at all.

Ahead of the curve my rse.

I’m talking about the gap in class between the clubs and their playing staff.

Far greater than the previous year. We have even more depth than then and the players are better trained and able.

If anyone wants to simply look at a points difference then good luck with that.

Celtic could at any time blow anything Rangers or anyone else have out of the water at any time should they choose. As they did when it was necessary.

Gap far bigger.

Rangers main focus should be on consolidating 2nd place

remind me of Amir Khan a few years ago in the lead up to a few of his fights he kept saying he wanted to fight Mayweather

he ended up losing the fights

focus on the job in hand which is overtaking Aberdeen

The points gap was always going to close this year. We were 39 clear last season

I don't think I expected it to close by 27 points but I didn't expect us to take the league so lightly.

We did and still did win with relative ease which is a good sign for us but next year the ante will be upped considerably by Aberdeen, Rangers and Hibs.

I expect us to do the same and pull away once again.
