Lets not pretend that this was some master plan.

Let's not pretend it happened in a day because we got "cold feet" over Arteta.

I don't think thats the meme. Just that others persuaded Gazidis to take a more sensible approach.

Yet it was Gazidis who was Emery's biggest fan according to the more reliable reports?

The media took us a long way down the Arteta road, but it was all without any input from Arsenal. Of course now the media have to save face by making up stories explaining why they were wrong, but again these hold little basis.

Think its no secret that Arteta was interviewed for the job and was on the shortlist. In my opinion I would question how he even made it to the shortlist had he not had a champion in the process, after all the man had a pretty weak CV as we discussed ad infinitum a few days ago. Its not too far fetched to assume that was Gazidis because of his warm words to Arteta. Obviously when it came to the crunch someone with a far better fit was chosen. I think that is common sense and pretty much how all major decisions are taken. Its the others who became invested in Arteta be it fans, players and pundits who jumped the gun without full thought and are now a little on the defensive. I think they are the ones trying to justify it as a backtrack, to save face.

Due to the fact that Arsenal's goals were scored by two of the teams most blind mice, one should not become too euphoric!

Too early to judge Emery, but his sideline optics are not too inspiring!
