Strikers thrive on confidence. I wonder whether Southgate announced Kane as captain fairly last minute to give him a real confidence boost going into the upcoming friendlies.

To be fair you're in the CL final in spite of Henderson rather than because of him.

-----

Wpuldn't agree with that Palmers, he does his job in the side very well overall, he doesn't stand out as a dynamic midfield player like say Gerrard would have, but Klopp really rates him as a player and as captain.

You have to also admire his drive, he was almost forced out of the club in a swap deal with Dempsey from Fulham, but said he wanted to stay and fight for his place and a few years later he's cpatain, that takes courage and determination.

Fair enough Kneerash

I actually don't mind Henderson. Seems to be aware of his limitations but appears a hard working pro,

Yeah he is what he is, one thing I think he has going for him is he's good at carrying out a game plan from a manager.

He did struggle at first playing the number 6 role for us under Klopp but has improved in it with time, he is tactically decent and also has a good eye for a pass.

England at the moment are not blessed with midfield talent so I do think he will start at the WC.

==================
Yeah.
Because Klopp made him club captain, and plays him at every opportunity, so the rest of the team can carry him.🤣

Personally, sod England!

bring all our players back! Let Surfgate use Liverpool players instead.

Forest Gump Henderson is their best England player. Says it all really.

We nurture locally sourced talent and get grief for that and then supply England with the talent and then get n0_bs come on our board to lecture us

poor choice of captain and kane won't play every minute.
can't have the captain claiming other players goals.
it's bad for moral.

How do you know he won't play every minute? He's our best player and now our captain. Chances are he will.

I agree. In fact, if you were to ask me the one player outside of defence that will play most minutes, it will absolutely be Kane. It's a weird comment.

vardy will be a better choice to counter attack and that's what england will be doing a lot of.

Absolutely the correct decision, our best player and leader by far.

Hopefully this means Horrendo is not sure of a place in the starting XI also.

kane is the new rooney. hopeless when it counts.
henderson should be in the first eleven for sure.

Dont get why people care about who the captain is tbh it doesnt really mean much or actually affect anything

The England Captain should be one of the best players in the team, lead by example both on and off the pitch and be sure of his place in the starting XI. Kane ticks all those boxes, Henderson doesnt.

I'm pleased for Kane but I doubt it matters who is captain. I don't care about Kane's leadership qualities, I only care about his ability to put the ball in the back of the net, and so should everyone else.

Communication is a key element for any captain. So picking a drooly, slack jawed Kane is just asking for trouble.

Done right, dribbling is an exciting on the pitch skill. Dribbling off it, during in pre/post match interviews, should always be avoided.

Down to earth family man Kane rises through the youth ranks at his boyhood club to become their star player and is awarded the honour of captaining his country at the World Cup.

It’s something to be admired.

But he scored a pen against Liverpool at Anfield 3 months ago so instead they’ll spray their salty tears to anybody who will listen.

Most pathetic fan base there’s ever been.

Kane may be vocal in the dressing room, we don't know.

As far as I'm concerned the captain' armband should go to a defender or midfielder. However since Kane is by far our best player I think this decision is justified.

London ones are the absolute worst - never more than 10ft away from one growing up.

It does make the potential fall on Saturday all the funnier though.

In their weird universe Harry Kane is not an elite striker, yet Jordan Henderson has suddenly become a mixture of Bryan Robson, Roy Keane and Bobby Moore

Half of them were for bombing him out a month or two back

When Emre Can was world class. He isn't now though because he is leaving
