Is there a piece of logic I'm missing? Why did both teams decide to bat first in these similar conditions? Seems stupid with hindsight.
Well England have set a bit of a platform before Root comes to the crease. Disappointing end for Jennings who knuckled down but started looking a bit suspect towards the end of that innings there. Bit of a nothing dismissal to get rid of him too.

Looks good for bowling tomorrow.
Cook went for 46. England will feel they could have done better but it was still a very good day for them.
England should win from here baring a complete miracle.

Root is a mentally weak player. What is it with him and meagre 40s and 50s? One thing for certain is at the end of his career he will go on the record with most 50s
England will have a lead...maybe 150...all set up for a close one

England will get a 150 lead but I fancy Pakistan batting well second time round and maybe score 350. 200 lead and it’s game on.

I've a feeling Pakistan will come back today refreshed and mop things up quickly with the still relatively new ball. England can be pleased that every batsman tried to occupy the crease and didn't get out by playing silly shots. No one reaching 50 though is frustrating but at least everyone in the team has helped them pass 300 and not just left it to someone else.
England first innings lead 189, Buttler 80no. Jimmy takes an early wicket.
Ah well would have taken a draw before the series started baring in mind how inexperienced our team was.
A third wicket for Bess, England need 2 more....
So much for them batting well then...
A draw in the series is about right. Both sides seem equally inconsistent.
