Welbeck out - Lucas Perez back in?

After how wrong the press got the managerial position I don't believe a word they say

posted on 23/5/18

It would be good though, right?

It would make sense, yes

Besiktas- who always seem to be linked with our players but never buy them - are said to be interested in Welbeck. With a year left on his contract, and the fact he is facking Shiite, this seems plausible.

Welbeck will be sold to Newcastle or Cardiff this summer I can’t see his future with Arsenal unless he improves his awareness and football brain.

He'll be 28 this year. Unlikely he's going to improve that part of his game now.

One of the luckiest footballers out there. A Championship standard player who's played at United and Arsenal and has plenty of England caps.

A return to Sunderland would probably be the best fit for him.

Welbeck will do a Gibbs and get relegated pronto with whomever is stupid enough to sign him.

I'd like to give Welbeck another year, we are lacking pace in the team and Welbeck gives us that option, he needs to work on his finishing though!

Lol Welbeck’s finishing has needed improving for the best part of a decade

I’d be very happy to bin him and give Lucas another go. Wenger never gave Lucas a fair chance

Welbeck did score a lovely crucial goal against CSKA Moscow though and a nice header against Southampton after missing a sitter few mins earlier.

Even if we keep Welbeck we'll need another winger, however the priority has to be signing 2 centre backs, holding midfielder and possibly a goalkeeper. This will all be dependent on how much money Emery will be allowed to spend though.

Joel Campbell will be the other winger

Interesting to see the development of Reiss Nelson as well. He has had a taster, now he needs to up his performances if he wants to have a career here. Which he may not want, considering he has yet to extend his contract.

Lucas Perez I thought wasn't a bad player at all especially when we had Iwobi and Welbeck. Welbeck, I do like his efforts. He's the sort of player a lot of the managers like for some reason.
But from the sounds of it, Emery won't be changing much of the squad

Both are dross and should be permanently binned.

Perez is a very mediocre journeyman who managed one decent season that wasn't even that decent!

Lucas Perez should definitely be brought back and given a chance - I don't know if it's too late now in terms of his confidence but on the pitiful number of times Wenger brought him on to the pitch I think he looked good.
With Welbeck you get what you get, great commitment and a prodigious workrate but nine games out of ten he can't a hit a barn door from 10 yards...

It's like the time Roma were linked with Gervinho. You're not quite sure why the fack they would be but begged the link to be true.

And it was

posted on 24/5/18

Gervinho wasn’t too bad for Roma. Well for his first season at least

posted on 24/5/18

Gervinho wasn't bad for us, tbh. Just needed to work on his first touch, second touch, passing, finishing, dribbling, positional play, timing of his runs and his vision.

Interesting times for our players out on loan...

a new manager will want to see what he has and how he can best use it, so would not be surprised to see Perez and Campbell back for pre-season, along with a host of other loanees and youth players.

He will have to see what he has before he buys new players (in the main, he will know we need a CB CM and GK by now)

Swapping Perez for Welbeck is like dating Mandy Dingle and then dumping her for that lump who won Eurovision.

Neither are of the standard we should be aiming for and would always be squad players.

I agree GP

that said, our attack is decent but will need squad players for EL, LC and maybe some easier home games to rest players, so whilst these players are not the standard we want, they may prove useful for a season.

I'd rather drop the high earning reserves like Welbeck and promote the youth who can only improve whereas Welbeck and Perez will always be mediocre.

His salary alone is probably 5x what the likes of Maitland Niles for example gets
