Over the moon with the series win, but all it does is paper over some very obvious and alarming cracks

I think the flaws in this side are so obvious now that changes will be made. I'd like to bring in 2 top 3 batsmen for Jennings and Rashid then move Root and the rest of the batting line up down a place.

India lose a series away again!.
Ravi shastri claimed at the end of the last test India were the best team away from home.. If so why don't you win a series?

Strange statement to make.

3-1 and we really are a poor side ourselves, batting is an absolute shambles.

Credit to our boys they always seem to find a way win pretty much every series home at least.

Spot on. Agreed with Harby at the end when he said this was India’s best chance to win a series in England given the hot weather conditions.. too many walking wickets once kohli is out.

Also credit to king moeen Ali.... great effort to come back and perform like that. Ali outbowled Ashwin, AGAIN. Given the conditions, Indian seamers bowler well this series, but Ashwin went missing at key stages and is too inconsistent

I remember Kav was keen to let us know that Ashwin was not a home track bully because in the first test he got a few tailenders out. Today once again he has been exposed as a home track bully.

Anyone else think Curran will be a better batsman than bowler?? I think the latter can be said for Stokes.
Curran 6 and stokes 7 would be my preferred position
If Buttler keeps the gloves he can bat 8 and Bairstow 5. Just need to find a top 3. Cook will probably retire at the Oval. Cant see him going on to be honest.

One poor game when not fully fit and he’s suddenly a home bully. If we want to talk about home bullies lets pull out Moeen’s average away from home in his last few series’

Short memories.

I think Stokes is a real allrounder, with batting and bowling pretty much equally balanced. If anything, I'd agree his bowling's stronger though, yes.

Curran, I think we develop into a specialist batsman. Wouldn't surprise me if he's just a change bowler years down the road. Might be wrong, but very strongly think that he will predominantly be a batsman.

Vaughan compares him to Graeme Thorpe, and in terms of English batsmen, compliments don't get much higher than that.

India were let down by their batsmen more than their bowlers. Ashwin didn’t turn up in this match(which tbh has been the case many a times before in away matches).

England lower order has won this series for India imo. As much as India’s bowlers have been good to watch but India’s batting starts from 3 and finishes at 5. We need to abolish this 5 bowler strategy and play an extra batsmen.

May as well try Shaw and Hanuman as the openers. Can also play Karun nair instead of Pandya. India need to make a clear distinction of choosing players based on t20 and tests now.

He's also making excuses that he's not fully fit blah blah blah and Moeen is a very average bowler

Viru, they’re coming close but never getting over the line. We’ve seen it in Australia, South Africa and now here. This team are decent but they don’t seem to function well at the same time. Once Kohli goes, the guts seem to leave the batsmen. Technique is a big issue. Aside from Kohli and Rahane none of the players seemed like they fancied the grind of a long innings.

Don't cry Kav at least your beloved Liverpool are top of the league.

Also, Shastri needs to go asap and be replaced with Dravid. I wish Kumble had stayed. Yesterday Ganguly tweeted saying we would be able to chase 300 - would love some of the drugs he’s on. I like Sanjay Bangar but you really have to question whether or not he’s built the best batting unit here. Probably not.

Can’t compare mo and Ash in terms of bowling at home vs away. England haven’t ever said Moeen is their first or even second spinner... they’ve tried many in between his absences. For an all rounder, does his job spot on.

Craig White was similar to Ali. Always regarded himself as a batsman who bowled a bit, but by the end his bowling was more effective than his batting. White was actually a genuinely quality quick bowler towards the end of his career.

6 stewart
7 white
8 Flintoff
9 cork

apart from when SA had kluesener, pollock, boucher and possibly others, that's about the only lower middle order I can think of that might be considered to rival what England have at the moment.
