That's what they need to get back to doing

Kids no longer look out the window bored out their heads

They have TV and films whenever they want and half of them spend their life on computer games

I try to limit how much my kid plays these things but I kid you not half his pals never seem to be off them

Would it put you off if a kid was fat ?!?

We accidentally discovered steam power. We made a fire in a field and stuck an old goal post on the fire. It had water in it and started to steam. We put a cork in the end to see what would happen but nothing happened for ages, then a big explosion and the cork came out like a gunshot. Hours of fun were had after that discovery.

I also chucked a bucket of water over a cow and the whole heard chased me and rammed me into a barbed wire fence. Kids should be doing that.

I used to play headers and volleys for minimum 3 hours a night.

Lived in a village, there were about 10-15 boys ages between 12-18 and you would know if you wanted to find something to do there would always be a few boys in the field.

In later years it kind of developed into drinking and smoking with a ball there too. The occasional line off the crossbar

When I was young i threw a half brick at a cow and it fcked right off it making this horrible thud sound ..it made me feel instantly sick and I immediately regretted it
I knew instantly animal cruelty wasn't for me

But that to be taught to me !!

Fortnite is the bane of my life

Thankfully my eldest will go out and kick a ball but when playing it he shouts down his headset permanently

Yip. My son (8) is addicted to it. Although try to curtail use.

As he did well at school, and as a treat I offered to get him an (can't recall the name) add on pack - was £7.99.

The next pack up starts at £20.

Can purchase a few things but nothing of significance. He ended up buying an upgraded hammer (used to mine for stuff).

I coach at a local kids footy team and they all play it religiously too.

I was totally against using money to get my youngest stuff in the game

I then read an article in the herald and it's changed my perception on such things ...it was basically saying that rather than just saying no to these things you have to consider that this is the equivalent of you asking for the new air Jordans , or the new Lyle and scott or the new whatever ....kids want it to look cool ...it's a social status as much as anything

So now I don't just say no ... if he does want these things in the game he needs to earn them by doing chores etc

My nephew plays it religiously. My brother was able to look at how many hours he plays his xbox and in one week he'd played 24 hours worth of xbox. That seems excessive.

I've stopped playing consoles now but it used to depress me when 10 year olds would beat me at FIFA then send me gloating messages.

Well they put up no ball games here there and everywhere now they've gotten there reward. Cheers vegetable growing people
