Liverpool and Tottenham's owners have a shared philosophy.

Cash before glory.

Both Managers are serial failures, they suit their respective employer's mentality. No pressure to win, just keep the interest up.

Real Madrid are all about winning. Sure money comes tp winners, but the winning comes first, second and third at that Club.

Klopp or Pocchetino would be a bizarre appointment IMO

Massimiliano Allegri makes sense, not sure what else he can do in Italy.

Klopp yet to finish above Poch in the Prem, or go as far as Poch in the FA Cup.

Oh right. What about their European records?

Its difficult to determine which manager has done the better job. So far, they've both done fantastic jobs at their respective clubs and have certainly built them up considerably and look much stronger than the 5 years previous to their arrivals imo in most cases.

I think the problem with both is neither have won anything, even though both have come close. Spurs have come close in a couple of title races and Liverpool in a couple of European finals and a domestic final.

I personally think Pochettino would make more sense because at this moment, it seems like Spurs' rise has just stalled a little bit and I can't quite see what they can do to get any better under Poch at the moment. Maybe Poch to Real and a top quality, experienced manager who knows how to win trophies to replace him at Spurs might be ideal for both clubs.

How has it stalled?

You don’t look to be making the next step up at the moment. This season could be defining for his Spurs career, if he’s there that is.

3rd place finish, no trophy, no real success in Europe. No real sort of surpassing expectations this season imo whereas the couple of seasons previous were for me. I just feel as though it's been a "steady" season with no real progress or regress this season.

I don’t think Klopp would be interested in Madrid but stranger things have happened in football.

Just to add, when he lost the title race to Leicester, even though that could be seen as a failure, it definitely wasn't because Poch took Spurs to where they wanted to be, title challengers and in the top 4.

I think the season after that when they first got into the CL was all about sustaining their CL status and whilst the European campaign was poor really, you could see the focus of their domestic campaign was all about staying in the top 4, which they did. So for me, that was deemed as a successful season.

Now this season just gone, with Poch being able to consolidate the top 4 and having the experience of the title challenge, I think this season would be the season where they would make the next step. A trophy, a European campaign that would be memorable, another title challenge etc. To me, they've failed to do any of that but he did sort of meet expectations really. Getting through a tough group in the CL, obviously deserves credit but losing at the Last 16 stage was a bit disappointing. No domestic trophy either and just a 3rd place finish. By no means a poor season, but just an underwhelming one.

Yeah it’s simply not the kind of job he goes for, where everything is already in place to win things.

Klopp is a German. And Germans are popular and respected for their good work.

Yeah, he is better to go where it’s not and then not win anything.
