I think the ref got it wrong. And I'm a lifelong VAR fan!
Because the game was shiiiiiiit. Loads of people have been focussing on the incident. Loads think it was a pen loads think it wasn’t. Var hasn’t interfered with this aspect of post match discussion.
Part of the problem is that there is no mechanism allowing the officials to watch slow motion replays of themselves from various angles reviewing the VAR replays.
If they had the opportunity to pause the VAR replays part way through to check and reflect on how they were reviewing the replays, maybe they might spot something they were doing wrong and be able to adjust their approach to try to improve their decision making.

Correct decision made, and VAR has been used well so far. Hardly noticed for 4 games, and then when it was it got the right call.
Notice that all those defending VAR are also defending incorrect refereeing decisions.

It was the correct decision though
He tripped him in the box. Clearly a penalty.
He played the ball, then Griezmann fell over.
I'm glad we're all in agreement.
On the twelfth replay you could clearly see him impede the trailing leg of Griezmann.
Therein lies your problem.
Gaz Nev nailed it.
Saw it on first replay, tbh. Looked like a penalty as soon as they showed the replay.
And how cringey is it when they say VARRRRR, instead of V.A.R?
