No I find the qualifiers boring as they're qualifiers. I don't regard others as dross as I'm not an arrogant ass hole but instead understand there are smaller, less developed countries that need some help to take their game to the next level, to generate interest within their country and to improve competition within it. In some cases even to make football the top sport in their country.
I also don't agree with seeding, helping the best teams have an easier time of it. Instead it should be fair, luck of the draw and perhaps we'd have other countries standing a chance.

I've not seen anyone say we have a chance of winning it once. Most have said winning a knockout game would be an achievement, not sure what you're watching.

16 from Europe, 6 from South America, 3 from Africa, 3 from Asia, 3 from North America and then some penguins.

It's the gamesmanship that needs reviewing more than anything with much harsher punishments. A simple one would be that if a player starts rolling around in "agony" then they must go off the pitch to receive treatment up to straight red / match bans for diving.
The 48 team idea is a stupid one purely thought up by baldilocks so that it can be his "lasting legacy" although I think for the 32 teams that qualify the normal way still play a maximum of 7 games?

The 48 team format is to try to get nations that are rubbish at football but have millions of fans (= kerching) into the world cup. They want the likes of China, India, Bangladesh, Phillipines and Thailand qualifying. They need USA at every tournament. And they want to make it so that all of the top Euro sides always qualify.
My problem is that the group stage will now be 16 groups with 3 teams in each. This will mean that the last 2 teams can carve up the result to suit their needs, something FIFA got rid of following the cheating of Austria vs West Germany in 82.

Jokes aside it's the gamesmanship that needs to be cut out. I've no issues with defensive football for teams like this, I do have an issue with constant playacting and time wasting. Just not in the spirit of the game and makes it a lot harder to attract viewers.

Totally agree with the OP. There are enough rubbish anti football teams in the tournament as it is.
Expanding the Euros diluted the quality further.

FIFA have never been very progressive in their ideas, but after the 1990 World Cup they tried to encourage more attacking football with 3 points for a win and the backpass rule.
They don't even pretend to care about the quality of the football these days. It's all about money.

The world cup starts with the qualifiers. If you cannot qualify, do better next time. With this sheite team we have at the moment I am kind of glad we're not in it.
I think if you want to make it a fair World Cup then get rid of seeding and make it real luck of the draw within the geographic regions obviously. Then if you are good enough to get out of your group you qualify. i think that although a money spinner it is a joke to call the CL the Champions League when non champions of their respective leagues are in it . I accept that we have not quite got it right in Scotland as of yet and don't deserve to be there just now but qualifying should be fair and should be luck of the draw.
Strange that someone sees "luck" the same as "fair".
