everyone knows messi is great when he plays in la liga. Too afraid to leave Barca and explore different league he knows it will be same result as Argentina FAIL. Ronaldo won titles with utd when chelsea emerged with russian money and jose won 2 titles in a row

Can’t fathom why Messi is getting so much stick for his performance yesterday. He’s good but unless he has the ball, what do people expect.

In the first half he had something like 20 touches. And in the second was coming so deep to get the ball he was, (on occasion) in his own half.

It also doesn’t help this current Argentina side are abject, and playing like the Dog and Duck.

Argentina have a wealth of attackers but they can’t all play at once. Their midfield and defence is a lot weaker than Portugal’s.

But Maradona failed to make a huge impact at Barcelona and also played, like Pele, in his domestic 'joke' (in your words) league. Does the fact of his travel in itself render him a great?

By the way, with regard to the joke league comment, in Pele's era the champions of South America regularly beat the winners of the European Cup so I wouldn't be so certain of the inferiority of Pele's club football.

For me both Messi and Ronaldo are better than Maradona and Pele. The game has move on and these 2 would have absolutely ripped it up back in the day.

Between the 2 it's quite obvious Ronaldo is the better individual.
You have to question how much of Messi's success is down to the team mates he's had at Barcelona. He's proved time and time again he's a flop with Argentina.
Ronaldo on the other hand has single handedly dragged United, Real Madrid and his country to major honours.

Portugal know what they are as a team, they’re decent, functional players that all play a part for the team and they have one superstar.

Argentina appear to be labouring under the impression that they’re a great side and they’re not organised or working as a team. They’re a total shambles.

And yet these are the parameters people are choosing within which to judge two of the most outstanding players ever. It just seems like lunacy to me.

in someway ronaldo always had inferior team to messi whether that was club or international football. Not only ronaldo kept up with the GOAT he has surpass him recently imo
