How many of those saves should he have made then? That’s the stat that actually matters.

He is the best goalkeeper in the world and he is better than courtois. The saves he makes for united are out of this world. Courtois could never make some of those saves.

He should have saved a couple of pens in the shootout, Golovins especially.

Whole of Spain want him dropped for Kepa yet you lot make out he's Lev Yashin mark 2

I couldn’t care less what the Spanish public think, I watch De Gea for united, and theres no doubt in my mind he’s the best goalkeeper in the world. Watch some of his saves and then come back to me and tell me you still don’t think he’s the best goalkeeper in the world.

He's a great shot stopper never said otherwise.

However If he wants to be the best in the world, he needs to improve his command of his area, sweeping skills and come of his line more, and prove himself in the CL and international level.

I absolutely disagree. De Gea is number one for me.

this article. How did Salah get on in his quarter?

So you think command of area isn't important?

Oh well, if the United fans on redcafe say so...

Why don’t you try finding one united fan on there who thinks courtois is better than De Gea. Also, if you want to talk about mistakes like the one De Gea made for Spain, why don’t we talk about courtois multiple furrrk ups against Barcelona?

So Redcafe opinions on De Gea vs Courtois count, butthe Spanish populations opinion on De Gea vs Kepa doesn't?

You’re the One who brought up redcafe, not me.

Pointing out his delusions and contradictions while watching him trip over himself has kept me going on many boring long work hours.

Could/should De Gea have done better at the World Cup?

Well, yes, undoubtedly. There was the Ronaldo howler, the general feeling of insecurity whenever he had to claim a ball or come off his line, and his committing way too early for an appalling 0/6 facing penalties.

Could/should he be replaced as Spain's no.1?

No, definitely not for the time being anyway. Kepa's far too young and inexperienced, and any other competition is miles behind.

Is he the world's best 'keeper?

Just off the top of my head, I'd rather have any one of Oblak, Neuer or Ter Stegen. De Gea is probably a step down, at the Courtois level.

DDG might be the best shot stopper, and he's exceptional from close range, but Memo Ochoa's also a fabulous shot stopper and he doesn't get 5% of the hype De Gea gets.

Exceptional shot stopping aside, the rest of his game is either 'yeah, fine' (but nothing to write home about), okayish, or frankly in need of improvement.

Could he become the best?

Yes, but he'd have to join R. Madrid for that.

ioag De Gea is better than Oblak or Te Stegen and definitely better than Courtois's version in Premiership.

Courtois has been taking the p*ss out of Chelsea for two seasons. He doesn't want to be there, even your own fans say so.

I also recommend that you watch some more LaLiga. Oblak and Ter Stegen are both excellent shot stoppers, only just short of DDG if at all, but both are also noticeably stronger in the air and coming off their lines.
