Leicester legends

It's what you bring to the club and the legacy you leave behind, for sure the league winning side will always be remembered fondly....

But it's the players who battled, dug deep and were shining lights through dark times that I remember more than the league and cup winners at my club.

There have been a few over the years, despite how poor we've been and how many truly awful players we've had to endure.

A couple that leap to mind would be Steve Claridge for the goals against Palace and Boro alone and also Tony Cottee for rolling back the years and looking like a twenty year old striker when we all thought he was well past it.

Steve Walsh always for me. Amusing because I was just asked this question in the office.

Best players I’ve seen in a Leicester shirt ever:
1. Cambiasso
2. Mancini
3. Collymore

Biggest legends for me
1. Stand out by a mile. Steve Walsh.
2. Jamie Vardy
3. Elliot, Izzet for their continued affinity to our club.

Mahrez doesn’t feature. Not a legend for me despite his incredible ability. I know I’ll get ripped by Nev for that but it’s just a personal opinion. Legends make themselves by their affinity to a club for me. Mahrez May become one but right now, not for me.

Oooooooo, spicy.

For me, 'the tank' Graham Cross would have to be up there. Tireless, versatile – central defence, midfield, even a forward, and all but 600 appearances. Not someone you'd want to collide with, though he'd be dwarfed by some modern CBs.
Decent cricketer too.

Very personal Mersey as Walsh is not alegend for me Gibson,Cross Stringfellow Ramsey Wilson Elliott Cambiaso Vardy Kante and then of course the best ever footballer to wear our beloved shirt Marhez.
MoN team was the some of the parts Martin was the legend

Amazed by Cambiasso then Colimore.

Vardy and our Andy king as a great servant.
Not sure about this bunch as there are 12900 season tickets left and only one day to go to renew 😳😁

That is why Big Nige IS a Leicester Legend, pipped by Claudio but very very close behind him and still contributing to the success LCFC are having!

An interesting insight into peoples opinions and how long various posters have been watching the Citeh.
Far too many legends for me to mention. Most have been mentioned but I would add Shilton, Nish, Lenny Glover, Whitworth, Youngy, Lineker ( hows nobody mentioned nim) Alan Smith, Gary Mac, USA, Lennon,
Sav (for his wind up capabilities ) Matty Fryatt, Kasper

Just to name a few

Sorry add the Birch to that, more for his ambassadorial
role than as a player. Leicester through and through

Best ever or most talented players is not the same thing as being a club legend in my eyes. Cambiasso and Kante don’t make the cut for me despite being in the former category.

I’d go with the likes of Walsh, Elliott, Izzet, Claridge and Heskey from the ONeill era and Vardy, Mahrez and most of the title winning team from the current era. I also think they really have to be towards the end of or finished their LCFC career for a true legend definition. I couldn’t argue with Huth and Wasyl, for example, being up there as well.

Every one of the Premier League winning squad is automatically a club legend. How can they not be, given that they delivered the only top division title in 134 years?

This absolutely includes Kante despite him only being transient at the club - without him there would have been no title.

Nathan Dyer?

Some would argue that Nathan Dyer is the biggest legend from our title winning season.

And who could disagree.

Nathan Dyer's header against Villa was legendary. It still feels today that his mind wasn't in the right place that day, that he pretty much didn't care whether he got hurt or not. I remember the muted celebrations as his teammates waved the medics over and we all thought he was out cold.
Vital goal in the context of the season though.

Nobody mentioned Gordon Banks! Only the greatest goalkeeper in the world, World Cup winner both whilst with us!

How about Kaamark for his man marking in the league cup final and who can forget Conrad Logan, a legend of the subs bench.

Of course, the title winning team will always be legends and I have to say that the under the radar way in which Robert the Huth left the club was sad. His goal at Spurs was immense in terms of the way the season finished.

Didn't he come on to the pitch at half time in one of the last home games? Or is my memory playing tricks?

I can't believe that I've never heard him referred to as Robert the Huth before.
