Na, still doesn't sit well with me.

.............

Come up with another option then.

I'm not saying I know the solution. I'm just saying surely there is better than this.

It's a very rare thing to occur and I can't think of a better solution tbh.
Senegal only have themselves to blame. Twice threw away leads against Japan and got beat by a Colombian side who had their best player taken off.

Try this.

If a game is drawn have a penalty shoot out to see who wins the head to head.

So at the end of your three matches it goes on table positions, then on goal difference, if both the same go on goals scored, if both the same go on head to head.

There is:

Points
Goal difference
Head to head

Having a penalty shoot out at the end of every drawn game in the group stage that will rarely ever even be used as a tiebreaker sounds crap.

I’d suggested this earlier in the thread.

Perfectly reasonable solution.

Personal discipline is an attribute worthy of not being penalised.

rather see clean football than dirty, cheating, cynical football.

Sounds brilliant to me.

Who doesn’t enjoy a penalty shoot out? It’s full of drama.

As for the rarity issue - I disagree. Senegal have just gone out to yellow cards and our group winner could be determined by the same thing. Twice in 24hrs is hardly a rarity.

Plus, it only has to happen once for it to be too much. It’s a bad way to decide football results.

There have been 9 draws this world cup so far, a penalty shoot out after each of them takes away the magic from it.

Already did and the reply I got was ‘stop fouling 😢😢😢’

Going out on bookings is a stupid anticlimactic outcome. Imagine the 2 teams were playing each other trying to bait the other team into stupid bookings. How fking stupid would that be. At least penalty shootouts are dramatic and exciting

There’s like 4 ways before the yellow card business, tough sh!te

What happens if they had the same amount of bookings. I’m sure I heard it goes down to a coin toss or something 😂😂😂

The system is flawed, only an idiot would disagree

Think the idiot lawrenson suggested qualifying goals, how does that work when some teams play 16-17 games and others play 8-10

Name me a system that does not have flaws ffs, of course it has flaws, deciding it on penalties has flaws.

Senegal have played very dirty. They set out to kick the creative players of the opposing team into submission. I find it only fair that they have been punished for it.

What makes it worse watch Japan and Poland going through the motions because of the combia score

Those are the rules, every nation knew them. I am half Japanese btw.

I didn't know you were half Japanese. What's the other half?

Seriously, this only came into play when other steps to determine who is placed where have been taken into consideration.

Spot kicks are also a gamble and some see it as unfair as well. So this is just as it was.

What they should have done was allow the ref to award a yellow card when a game descends into such farce so that would encourage the team to play.
