I'd probably agree with IE and say we were probably more rusty than knackered.

Btw did anyone see Gerrard's comments on McCrorie?

Really interesting, and pretty damning on Murty. I agree with him and have said the same before but wasn't expecting him to say it publicly given Murty is still there.

no, what did he say?

Last year was only 1-0 Bhoy, and I wouldn't have seen Progres scoring 3 either if we had won that one 2-0.

After last year though I think most of us were still a bit cautious as 1-0 is always tricky. 2-0 is obviously still game on but based on last night I don't see them scoring 3 without reply.

Yeah true, but no-one really thought Progres would score two and no reply from Rangers.

But at the end of the day you will go through with no real issues I think.

Yep. Pretty damning on Pedro too.

“IE - fortunately with Ejaria and Coulibaly coming in as well as Rossiter seemingly a bit part of his plans Candeais won't be used there for much longer. Definitely didn't quite look right to me.”

Agreed, I noticed it against bury the candeias thing. Just strange even before Coulibaly came in cos cm is one position we literally have too many players. Docherty jack and Halliday ( ejaria as well tho he came on) all cms on the bench last night yet he plays candeias there. Very odd .

On the penalty, in not sure Shkupi or Celtic fans can really cry about it. We should of had two before that so if the one we did get was a bit soft, we were still owed another one to make up for the early two

Isn’t Mcrorie originally a centre back tho? I’m sure that’s what he came thru as tho he’s defo better in centre mid. People still say he will go on to become a centre back but I don’t see it.
One things for sure with Gerrard, he’s not afraid to speak his mind and call people out.

Doesn’t say the usual standard manager responses. It’s quite refreshing

didn't Murty bring McCrorie through the youth ranks?

did he play centre mid there?

Not sure I do remember something about him playing centre mid when in the unders but general consensus seemed to be he’s a centre back, certainly initially tho not now thankfully

5/10 and I didn't see a second of it. This was a poor team Rangers were playing and winning 2-0 at home with a last gasp soft(IEs word) penalty is at best grudgingly acceptable Rangers will win over there surely!!

“think that tells you there are a few centre mids in there not in his plans IE. On McCrorie I don't think he was ever a centre back as far as I am aware, which is why it was strange he played there for our first team. Possibly just because he was a big boy.

Even when he was on loan at Ayr he either played right back or centre mid. I remember seeing him in the youth team as a right back as well.”

Fair dos I didn’t follow him at Ayr but think it may have come up before he didn’t play cb for them.

He’s a central midfielder now anyway, that’s for sure

Not quite what i said

I thought it was a stonewalled but Shkupi and bhoys think it was soft.

At this stage it's just about winning these games, if you put in a good performance it's a bonus.

Tuesday night looked like Celtic's first game of the season to me. It wasn't brilliant but we won. from what I'm hearing the same applies to Rangers last night.

Interview with the man himself. Seems he’s played centre back right back and cm for Scotland unders . Credits gemmel for playing him cm

“He was either given license to play where he wanted or he has incredibly poor positional discipline as he was all over the place last night. Maybe the occasion got to him?”

Didn’t notice that myself tbh but possibly young and too eager. Or as you say given licence to roam.

Looks like a good player.

I felt McCrorie to play cb needed to be with Alves or a physical type. I think Gough would have struggled next to Martin though

“Yeah IE all that matters is he is a centre mid now and Gerrard going on record with that hopefully means he won't be used at CB this season unless there is a defensive emergency.”

Agreed, his best position is undoubtedly cm
