Belgium's last minute winner vs Japan has to be up there along with Ronaldo's free-kick and Messi's goal vs Nigeriabut England's penalty shoot-out win wins hands down for me.

2: Harry Kane - Golden Boot Winner
Boy! Aren’t you non English fans reading this hating this! Cmon! Bring on the hate. Well let’s look at the number of WC goals England scored in the previous two world cups -
2010 - 3
2014 - 2
Now that we’ve applied some context, many English fans will look back over this and count 2018 as a feel good WC year despite not winning the final. A trophy came home of a sort and the country became united again.

i doubt anybody cares outside england to be honest but is a bit strange for people who usually hate football that is not played at premier league standard to rave about goals vs tunisia and panama

i think that is what fans of the pl would call pub teams or sunday league teams

he's a good player but nowhere near the best striker at the tournament

not even in the top five

Batshuayi belting the ball back into the net but only succeeded in it coming back off the post and nearly taking his face off. Funniest ( best moment of the world cup for me )

Ronaldo v Spain (free-kick), Pavard v Argentina, Kroos v Sweden, Son v Germany, England winning on penalties.

They were the standout moments for me, in no particular order. That's off the top of my head; I'll probably remember some others in a bit.

The boy trying and failing with the somersault throw was pretty amazing too.

VAR

First time it's been properly used in a major tournament and generally i think it's been a major success. Obviously some flaws need to be ironed out (particularly when a human gets involved in the decision) but with some improvements it's a big asset to the officiating of a game.

PL made a big boo-boo not having VAR for next season.

I think you are mad if you think an error strewn final with lads out on their legs trying their hardest but just really scrambling is a great final.

first goal - virtual OG
second goal. decent strike
thrid goal - daylight robbery pen
foruth goal - lucky break to pogba after initial shot blocked
fifth goal.. defender out on legs terrible closing down
sixth goal absolute howler.

England winning on penalties was the best moment from a purely biased point of view.

The controversy added to the spectacle.

It's been the best final since I've been watching them - 1990.

Ronaldo's hat trick against Spain is number one for me. The highlights of that game have got over 50 million views on Youtube!
Lots of special moments from this tournament that I've lost count.

Seeing as 2006 was my first World Cup, I'd never seen a World Cup match as good as Portugal v Spain or France v Argentina, so those were pretty special.

Outside of the usual suspects, the Peruvian fans were incredible and Iran were a strangely fascinating team to watch.

Germany's elimination was the ultimate highlight though. It just doesn't happen to the Germans, until it did.

10 - No more coming home nonsense
9 - Perisic goal v France. Game on!
8 - Belgium's winner v Japan
7 - Ronaldo v Spain
6 - Korea making it 2-0 v Germany to send em home
5 - BBC Nigeria shirt parody
4 - Kroos freekick to save Germany... Kind of
3 - Neymar salmon impression
2 - Portugal going out
1 - The plucky underdogs

The feel good factor from an England perspective was great. The pubs/bars I went to had a great atmosphere.

No one was expecting too much before the tournament so I find it amusing how people said we had an easy ride.

It could have been harder, granted. But you can only beat what's in front of you and how often do we do that in major tournaments?
