Smacks of desperation.

Didn't we go there with Lee Irwin? Supposed to be one of the future, scored precisely zero for us and sloped back north with his tail between his legs, scored seven last season. Unfortunately gone are the days of the likes of the Grays, Lorimers, Jordans and of course Bremners of this world.
Scotland is the home of pub teams nowadays.

The bigger question here has to be whether we can compete with Salford City?

I think Brexit, if it ever happens, will impact on transfers and see clubs look to the home nations for the bulk of their new talent.

The Scottish leagues have never been particularly competitive but there are still really good players outside of the usual suspects. A lot depends on the scouting network any one club and where their focus is.

I suspect we still trawl Europe more than we do in say Ireland, Wales and Scotland.

Yet plenty players have our teams and progressed at much bigger sides than Leeds...

Adam Rooney signing is a bit of a red herring. Salford are spending considerably more than the teams around them
