Poch's frustration with lack of transfers..

I actually think levy is a very good chairman and we wouldn't be where we are right now without him

But he needs to show more ambition in the transfer window. Anyone denying that now is being silly

"for different reasons it has been difficult to add players who can help us"

This is key for me.

As have been said on other threads, signing players isn't always easy and it isn't like football manager. There are so many reasons a player may / may not sign. I do honestly believe we have tried but so far it hasn't happened.

Let's not get too down on it all, there's still a week to go.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nobody else makes it look as hard as us. Like I said, if we had a armful of trophies from last few seasons then I could forgive our pickiness but we don't. We are nothing like as good as some of our fans think we are. Over the course of past few years we have done well, but have benefited from uncharacteristc blow ups from some of the traditional powerhouses. Despite our overall improvement we have come nowhere near a trophy.. no final made and never really challenged for the league until was too late/ out of sight
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Who would be your signings then?

Number eight, as you know mate, I have had this view for years. I'm not just throwing my toys out the pram this summer. I have been bang on Levy's case for years. I honestly think he holds us back on the pitch.

Why don't we have a director of football thought poch favoured this system?

posted on 3/8/18

I think Kovacic, Zaha, Martial, Kondogbia, Sessegnon, Ndombele, Tierney, Lewis Cook, Bertrant, Deligt would improve the squad/ first 11. I would be happy any one, over the moon with any 2. I understand we have to be sensible I'm not asking for the world. We are weak in central midfield (Injuries to moussa, Winks & Victor are too frequent), weak at CB if we sell Toby ( i dont think Foyth or CCV are good enough). & I'd love a pacy wide player who is capable of playing up front with Kane or deputising for him, esp given Sonny at The Asian games & possible military service.

I would have been OK signing Meyer on a free as a back up to Eriksen, Mawson for 15mln seems like a good deal as did Seri going to Fulham for 25Mln.

While I'm not thrilled about Grealish, I have faith that Poch would improve him but I doubt we'll get that over the line now. I wouldn't be shocked if we end up with Barkley after Chelsea hijack all our targets

never well again. didnt we have one and we actually signed 7 players and it was a mess.

just need to identify a few targets early and do everything to get them in.

Levy has done well in steering us from a mid-table side to a big, established top 4 side, with huge help from Redknapp, Poch and some quality youngsters turned superstars. Now we need to start acting like a big club, yet this window we aren't even acting like a mid-table club that's trying to get into the Europa. It's tragic.

Levy should either show the level of ambition required or leave.

I don't disagree with some of them but that does read like a fantasy wish list.

Martial - plays for Utd who are a direct rival, why would they sell to us? They wouldn't. Or would they want Toby in return? Do we want to give them Toby? Does Martial want to play for us? Or does he want to be a guaranteed starter?

Zaha - Palace don't want to sell so we would have to pay 80 - 100m. Can we afford that for one player? Unlikely. Does he want to come to us?

Sessegnon wants to stay at Fulham. Lots and lots of other clubs want him, can we compete with them on wages and transfer fee?

Kovacic - Wages no chance. He's at Madrid, would he want to come to Spurs? We would need to get rid of an overseas player to accomodate him in the CL squad, so we need to get rid of one... but what if Dembele wants to stay?

You get the picture! I'm not being a d!ck, but transfers aren't as easy as saying 'yeah let's sign him'.

I reckon we will get Martial in a swap for Toby and we will sign Grealish and that’ll be it

Sissoko earns more than Kovacic.

Why not if you guarantee starting role and he'd be getting a pay increase as well as playing in the CL?

Sissoko/ Janssen/ N'Koudou... etc. as potential departures to accommodate.

Ok I've got no come back to that

Wasn't saying they were definite reasons why we haven't signed anyone, just that there are things to consider

Ok Don don't read this

From Steve Bruce:

“At the moment, Spurs haven’t got anywhere near what the owners want to even consider, so there’s not a discussion to be had,” Bruce said. “I don’t think we’ve had a formal bid. The one thing that the owners have made pretty clear is no one is for sale. We don’t want to lose our best players.”

"“The owners are aware that every player has got his price. The good thing they have been able to do is not let anybody go on the cheap. So if somebody wants to come and buy one of our players then they are going to have to find a premium and make sure that the owners are comfortable with that.”

Yeah completely understand but also my point is that why are these complications extra intense with Spurs? They needn't be at times.

I feel like Levy dedicates so much time on haggling that when it blows up in his face there aren't many alternatives - when we get to those he again spends all his time haggling until either he gets his way or pressure last minute to pay £30m for Sissoko because all else failed.

The only chance Martial goes to Spurs as part of a deal for Toby is that if United can bring in another winger too.

More chance of us just giving in and paying the fee for Toby at this point. I don't see us getting either Perisic or Willian now so I can't see us letting one of our better attackers going without a replacement.

Should have gone to Real Madrid when he had the chance......

Move on fellas, and get your lives back. Going on about lack of transfer 24/7 is a bit silly.

The only thing I will go ballistic over re transfer in and outs, is if Spurs let Toby go to United. That should be an absolute no no. Other than that I am, as you all know, not worried if Spurs don`t buy any players.
