The costs for the switch are just too high for me to consider it really. A shame as it looks great.
Had a ds with chessmaster which was good, but the game didn't do the analysis replay that the pc version did.
I think I spent so much time gaming as a teenager, that I'm burnt out from it all.
I have one, Mario kart is great for multiplayer and Rocket league is possibly the most addictive game I’ve played.
My son has one and tells me that playing Fortnite is so much easier than x-box

Nonsense. You're just a quitter. Shame on you.
Barely touch mine but it is an incredible piece of hardware. However I have a top end gaming pc and a PS4. Like the op I'm not the biggest Nintendo fan these days so I think my bias has a lot to do with not playing it. But yeh it works as stated and being able to play Skyrim or soon DS on it is amazing.
i have a switch but only because my youg 'un wanted it for Christmas. I have played it myself when I get the chance and the times I have used it I have been blown away by the power from the device - seriously BoTW is an amazing game and I have rinsed it.
The only issue is the games themselves - I havent bought any of the ones I already own yet as Im unwilling to fork out that amount of cash on a game I have owned and played on my PS3.
We are likely to buy all the exclusives for it and maybe some of the older games transferred to switch as and when they drop in price (on a side note I will also say that for anyone that has it, the Splatoon DLC is really worth buying)
If I was someone that had to commute and had a chance to play hand held games more often then this would be a worthwhile purchase.
Price of console/games is putting me off the Switch.

Yep, exactly the same. The only Nintendo product I've ever owned is the original Gameboy; console wise I went from Mega Drive to Playstation 1,2,3,4 and was never tempted by Xbox or N64, Gamecube, Wii etc but the Switch really has me interested. As you said its the total cost of owning one which is prohibitive and the games which are exclusive and thus more expensive is also a turn off.
If they do a decent bundle around Christmas then maybe I'll get one for the kids (win/win) but last Christmas there was nothing offer wise although it was still new then. If they did the console with an additonal proper handheld controller and a couple of decent games for £300 then yeah take my money but Nintendo arent like that as a company.
we only brought the previous wii u for the mario games, mart kart/Mario 3d world, fun for a while but soon gathered dust, even my daughter whos 8 stopped using it(ipads are more fun apparently)
the price on the switch does seem quite high for what is basically a oversized handheld console, probably wait until it comes down and give it a try

That's a tad harsh Kaz - I feel a better description is underpowered console you can make mobile because quite frankly it blows other handhelds out the water. The biggest issue I find is just lack of games (especially 3rd party) though it seems to be doing much better than the Wii u in that regard, and it seems to be getting a load of indie titles and things like Fortnite.
Was tempted to buying one, but I don't fancy any of the titles too much. I'd also struggle to find places and time to play with a handheld so I prefer the PS4 and PC.
I have one, skeptical at their move to a hybrid at first but i personally love the switch, its quickly replaced my ps4 (i have always been a fan of nintendo thought) BOTW is a magnificent game and while ots diverged a lot from previous zelda titles it was the most enjoyable sandbox game i have ever played.
Mario odyssey pees all over mario 64. Shovel knight is fun, snipperclips is a fun little puzzle solving game that was fun to play with the mrs, currently playing xenoblade 2 which is a good game but doesnt live up to the wii u's xenoblade chronicles X.
I also have the bomberman game which i find to be utter shiiiiit.
Not sold on the idea of the "lets go" games but might pick it up when it drops to £20/30 (which i do for almost all games these days anyway)
Switch has been a great investment and i really dont understand these "cost" arguments. Its a full vlown powerful console, on their release ps3 was £500 and ps 4 was over £400. £300 for a switch with a game hardly seems unreasonable.
Just bought my daughter one for her bday next month.
I’ll probably be playing it more than her though.
Any tips for owning one?

Personally find a joycon in each hand (without the grip) the most comfortable way to play (after a little getting used to) i now hate using my PS4 controller, feels like im wearing handcuffs
Get a tempered glass screen protector to put on it day-1 a few have had scratched screens putting it in and out of the dock, mine has a few scratches on the back from this, and i am very careful!
The most annoying thing about it is the lack of headphone support when playing on a TV, i got a USB-c bluetooth dongle + bluetooth headphones to address the issue, plugs in to the bottom when playing it mobile, and with a USB-c -> USB adapter you can plug it in to the front of the dock in docked mode.
Other than that: Mario and Zelda are two must haves. If you never had a wii U the mario kart 8 deluxe will be well worth it, my favourite mario kart game.
There are a lot of good games so far, i already have more than for my PS4, luckily they take up a fraction of the space!
Cheers mate appreciate the info.
We’ve got here WWE, spaltoon 2, 1/2 switch & mario Kart 8 ( although this one is really for me )
1-2 switch is amusing, basically a tech demo.
Splatoon 2 is one i keep meaning to get, had 1 on the wii U and played the open demo, its a fun game, and i love the aiming controls
there are a lot of tracks on the mario kart game, think theres 10 cups, its enormous, you guys will have a lot of fun.
If you plan on using a joycon each for something like mario kart i would suggest getting a couple of joycon grips, they can be a little hard to hold on their own.
Awesome cheers mate. I bought a 64gb memory card as the wwe game said it need one.
