Strange thing is this is probably our best squad for about 7 yrs since we last made the CL final yet its probably the lowest i have felt goung into a season since probably the 1995 season when we lost Ince, Hughes and Kanchelskis
----------------------------------------------------------------------

We won the double that year Those pesky kids were alright.

Our first 3 games

Leicester home
Brighton away
Spurs home

9 points from those and I guarantee today is forgotten

Allegri turned down Madrid. Can’t see him jumping ship to come and fix our issues. He seems desperate to win the CL.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah and it's not going to happen this season anyway but he's a good fit on paper. Poch too if course.

I agree with you about Zidane though and it wouldn't surprise me if he never managed again.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He should drop the mike and leave on this note

More on a ja606 perspective. So many people writing off United and making Liverpool their choice to win the league. Be funny to see us finish ahead of them. Not from an achievement POV

Can't see Liverpool finishing within single digits of City to be honest

This has been quite a civil thread. No RDD to taint it. Or VC

Robbing, yeah they are probably the best fit on paper. Won’t be everyone’s cup of tea for a number of reasons, but there are very few managers around that could provide the style and results that people expect/want to see.

Yeah I wouldn’t be surprised either with Zizou. I think it was a perfect storm with him. He’s a very lucky manager. And went into a club that didn’t need much work from the coach just a calming influence in the dressing room and a bit of freedom and rotation.

He did a great job, of course. But those results were far more about the players than any managerial genius from Zidane.

The mentality they had, especially in the CL, is not something that can be replicated elsewhere.

If that is the case, why didnt they get Maguire?

Even if Jose does go at the end of this season the club need to sort out how they do business as Woodward seems to be obsessed with only superstars
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We've bought three players this window, none of which are superstars. He wants value. Boateng, Maguire and Toby didn't represent value. Godin was never going to happen but was viewed as value.

I actually think Ed was right to veto those targets. Jose should have had younger back ups with more potential and re-sale value. I don't agree with the club briefing the media the way they have.

Regarding the new manager, it might benefit us to promote from within. Butt, Carrick, McKenna. Two of those know what it means to play for United and what the fans expect.

Too expensive and viewed as not better than what we already have.

Finally the club remembers what we are about. He has spent ridiculous amounts of money and cannot get the best out of what he's bought.

Quite pleased about the club's stance on Martial and Pogba too. These are players that will take this club to the next level and they are being stifled by this donkey of a manager.

Good job Ed and the board;

He was not worth the fee being quoted. They say so clearly.

They were happy to pay 100m for Varane (I think that's crazy too).

Club said these players are not better than what we've got.

I suspected the club had misgivings about his targets.

Put a smile on my face this morning

It's been printed by every media outlet going. It's a briefing by Ed/the club.

The fecal matter is about to hit the rotating airflow device.

It's possible... it's also possible that the story broke from an online source and everyone copied it.... which is standard, these days.

Nah no more negative conservative managers. Forget them all! Forget the likes of conte. The thought of it sickens me to the core! Get a manger who plays football that is positive and with purpose, even if unknown in the Mexico league. I don’t care anymore. This dire football is enough to make you hate football. Jardim would be good!

Why won't you let us enjoy this?

The story answers a lot of questions we have asked here and we all know Ed is not above doing this. Appearances matter to him (which in itself is a problem we have to face later)

We have money and have been willing to spending stupidly for a while now, so only reason a clearly agitated Jose has not gotten a new centreback!!! (3rd in 3 years) is because they have refused to pay foolishly for his choice.

Can you come up with another logical reason?

My thoughts initially too but there are some "comments" in the article that look "tactically" placed by a press officer about Woodwards views.
