If this was a game of chess, then Ed has got Jose in check with the only move Jose can make will be to win the EPL/UCL. If that doesn't happen Jose is gone next season and Ed has plenty of time to plan for a successor. Or more likely Jose will go into kamikaze mode, then Ed can get rid of him without even getting his hands dirty.

The dof appointment could be viewed as a way of neutralising Jose’s power, to the point he will walk.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There's no way Jose is walking whatever happens.

If he wants to go, he'll find a way to get himself sacked.

This is what I mean, the ‘can’t work with a dof’ type excuse is ready made. It’s almost as if it’s a ready made excuse...

Plus he will NOT like having a dof. He’s being subtly pushed imo.

It's a demotion and erosion of responsibilities for any manager, whichever way you look at it.

Jose won't be happy with the idea, no

Everything does point to Pogba and Jose having a strained relationship but could it be possible Pogba was criticising the club more than Jose? Criticising the board perhaps for not backing his manager in the transfer window? Unlikely I know but don't want to jump to too many conclusions yet.

As much as I have my doubts about Jose I'd love to write here next May that I was wrong after an entertaining and successful season
----------

Pretty sure Pogbas problem is with Jose. His lack of celebration after the penalty speaks volumes
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In all probability that's what it is but I'm just considering all angles however unlikely.

We do need him to stay though as our midfield is much better with him in it. Don't think he'll leave this summer though unless it's for really stupid money.
-------

I dont think he will go this summer now, but Jose might be happy to get rid after these comments. Sanchez would be an option in behind Lukaku, which would free up the left for Martial

Exactly what I think. The unwillingness to sanction big fees for our older targets and bringing in a DOF suggest to me that they are not happy with Joses short term approach. I think that they are lining up his exit next summer. Still shaking my head at the decision to give him a new contract

Elvis. I think the club would rather Jose go than Pogba. It'll be an interesting year that's for sure even if most of the interesting stuff will be off the pitch!

When asked about the game, and Leicester in particular, he said "They have good players, a good manager and also with a good investment too"

Pogba could still join Barca before 31sy August if they really went for it, and he pushed.

I don’t think they/or he will though.

If he does go then it could all really blow up. Surely the club wouldn't sanction this with no possibility of getting anyone in?

Exactly. Barca won’t pay enough- and we’d want a lot. If they really want him, they’ll play a long game, and tap him up over the season and hope to get him cheaper.

It'd be rank stupidity by the club to sell for any price now.

The thing is though with that statement is that from both men we're getting exactly what we expected.

Rosso - I agree. Selling now would be the most stupid thing the club have done in ages. If it has to be done do it in January and allow him to be replaced.

I suspect he kept felani as he has his uses tactically. It may not be pretty, but can be effective

Its another example of why he can't really cry about his targets not being got etc

The club broke their contract policy for feckin Fellaini of all people because the manager begged them to

If his cb targets weren't valued right the club has a right to say no... He's just a miserable t**t

Really? We look more often than not to concede a goal when ever Jose brings on Fellaini to see out a game.
