Season 1 was good but 2 became too Skylar driven and by the end of it I just couldn’t watch it due to her.

I think it’s widely regarded that ‘the fly’ is one of the worst episodes of TV ever.

Yeah I think thats when I decided to give up on it.

The wire being my favourite ever TV show.

Best TV show out currently is Animal Kingdom which hasn’t got much hype despite its quality

Series 2, the Skyler diaries. Really slow going that was and a bit of a drag to get to S3.

And Stretty, Malcolm for me is the best. Or at least my favourite anyway.

Breaking bad is overrated. Seasons 2 & 3 are quite poor TV. People love it because they remember how good seasons 4 & 5 were. Very short memories.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I preferred 1 and 2 over 4 and 5 easily. Much preferred the struggle than when he was on top.

Yeah 1 is my favourite. The start up and whole change of personality through S2 etc.

Ozark is exceptional.

looking forward to the second season of that.

Season 1 was very enjoyable, I'll give you that. I started losing interest shortly after that, and those ridiculous twin hitmen completely killed it for me. They were just laughably cartoonish in a show that supposedly tried to be a serious character study.

The Fly episode fυck that was bad. Perfect example of the self-indulgent twaaattery the show sunk to at times.

The Fly episode was a marmite episode. Many enjoyed it. Many loathed it. I guess if you're binge-watching the show like I did, you might find some artistic merit to it, but if you were following it week to week on cable, that would have been an annoying waste of a week.

The Fly episode was a filler show, but it did show the meticulousness of Heisenberg and how he saw his product as a piece of art. Heisenberg always showed extreme care about minute details; precise; he was very thorough at cooking the perfect meth, Heisenberg was a meticulous craftsman and The Fly dug into that side of the character. He wouldnt cook a new batch until the contamination had been removed.

The episode did remind me of Brian and Stewie though, locked in the vault and going all berserk, Brian eating Stewie's excrement

The family guy episode was a pastiche of the BB ep I believe

I've been a big advocate for Idris Elba but after watching the new Mission Impossible I think that the Bond producers should go all out to make Henry Cavill the next Bond. He's tailor-made for it no question.

he was very suave in the man from uncle. underrated.

also think hes the best superman, shame his films have been dud.

The director of Casino Royale (Martin Campbell) actually wanted Cavill to be Bond back then but he was rightly seen as being too young at the time. It's ideal for him now.
Being a recognisable actor might work against him though.

is difficult to separate The Sopranos v The Wire as the best TV drama ever

but it is certainly one of the two
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Both amazing but the Wire is number one. The sopranos is Tonys story the Wire is baltimores

Is that a good thing? Personally I'm much more interested in the messed up soul of a mob boss than a random city I know nothing about.

[I did watch and enjoy The Wire s1]

Nah its better to me anyway. The size of the narrative in the wire is exceptional, essentially its a social commentary on urban America and how the war on drugs is complete bollix and is designed to keep the poor poor.

By not changing all the issues it looks at remain. So tje hoppers in season ome are replaced by a new set of kids by season 4 because nothing changes. The cops still juke the stats, same happens in schools..politician's are as corrupt as can be and are in it for themselves.

I love Tony Soprano my favourite character on tv but the story is all about him, every character while important is essentially there to serve his character.

The wire doesn't have a single central protaganist. Its really Baltimore which is any major American city. That's the difference for me, but narrative structure is something I personally love socan easily see why you wpuld choose sopranos. But if you've only seen one season of the Wire you need to finish all 5. Then watch it again.

Fair do's. I mentioned earlier in the thread - watched season 1 and enjoyed it (McNulty is a hilariously massive twaat). Got halfway through s2 and then my first kid was born so kinda lost track and never picked it up again.

Not a case of specifically choosing Sopranos over Wire, I don't really get why people get so tribal about everything these days (not saying you were, just a general observation).

I prefer The Wire to The Sopranos, but you can make a case for either. The Sopranos is more plot-driven, but The WIre is more of a social documentary. The Wire is more difficult to follow with its array of characters in the police and law enforcement and criminal gangs and politicians and kids about to be roped into the gangs and reporters etc, and plots and sub-plots in The Wire take seasons to resolve. It's a slow-burner.
