I do not believe that we paid on more to the EU than we got out. I don't think what we got out of being a member of the EU can be measured, certainly not to the degree of accuracy of what we paid in

UK contributions to the EU agencies are about £8/9 billion a year

https://www.ons.gov.uk/economy/governmentpublicsectorandtaxes/publicsectorfinance/articles/theukcontributiontotheeubudget/2017-10-31

However these are agencies (44 of them) that have mutually benefited all member states. From medicines, security, intelligence, atomic energy, safety, aerospace etc etc.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agencies_of_the_European_Union

Plus having unrestricted access to the largest trading bloc on the planet, and global trade agreements etc.

As a percentage of total government expenditure EU contributions are around 1%.

As an individual, I'm happy that we have free 4G roaming, free cash withdrawals and free medical services in the EU.

I've yet to read from a Leaver about having to pay for those services in the future is going to benefit me.

Yeah, I wasn't going to mention the size but 1 to 2% of our annual expenditure is hardly going to be noticed by the average person on the street if we stop paying it, it would be swallowed up in the budgets of most things that impact us. I have never been concerned about our paynents, I am concerned about the potential loss of investment if current or future investors find us a less attractive proposition when we are out. I can't 100% hand on heart say they will but you certainly can't say they won't. Either way again it will be very tough to measure except in the impact of the person on the street, though we will adapt no doubt.p

If we are going to be a basket case when we leave the EU,why are they fighting so hard to keep us in,perhaps they don't like to think of us that poor,or is it the £14 billion we put in their pot,and get less than £5 billion back.

Bless em.

I don't think you're bright enough or have the facts to hand to enter this discussion but rest assured UK gets much more out of EU than that which you imply. You'll realise that around the second week in April.
Bless !

Coop

Bout ye, brother๐Ÿ˜Š

Admin did a pro and con brexit list, and We pay in more than we get back from the EU.

As more poorer and smaller states joined the EU to receive more back,,so the likes of Germany and the UK carried the likes of Greece,,Eire and Spain.....now East European and central European zones.

Hence why Germany and France are crapping themselves to stop big contributing Brits from leaving.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Who told you Germany and France are crapping themselves. You have been reading too many comics mate.

4G roaming isn’t free, it’s part of your contract.

Cash comes with an exchange fee above that you would get in England buying Euro.

Medical care is free, funny that I had to pay insurance (national and private) last time I travelled.

4g has always been part of your contract except when roaming until the EU deemed that we should involve roaming charges if using in Europe. Once we are out there will be nothing stopping providers from charging again, they hopefully won't but they could.

If the fee you are charged for treatment is higher than that cost in UK then you will have to pay the difference, not every country is free at point of service like the UK and you will need to reclaim while still away to get your money back.

If we get to keep it great, but I believe there are aspects to your arrangement with the EU that our brexit team are reluctant to accept so we may not get the same benefits as you necessarily.

My arrangement? No detail of what will and will not be part of a deal is unclear. Remember that the benefit of the EHIC system will be lost to visitors to the UK also.

My arrangement? It's a figure of speech referring to Norway's arranhement. It is not literal in the same way as if I say Chelsea are my team doesn't mean they are mine.

Of course it would be but then non EU nationals use it freely regularly today any how.

OK Mr Pedantic, let's substitute the word 'free' for the phrase 'at no extra cost'.

What are the benefits?

Abolition of roaming was an Eu wide directive.

Haven’t seen any leave voters wanting to pay roaming charges while they go to Europe on holiday.

Because saving a few quid on roaming charges would make me change my mind!

And I never paid any in Norway, Thailand or Australia anyway!

posted on 26/8/18

So did you offer to pay more as you clearly don’t think abolition of roaming charges is a good idea?

Or did you take advantage of it?

WTF is this imbecilic rambling about?

After your earlier arrogant post I've come to the conclusion you couldn't be stuck any further up your own ar$e if there was a team of shire horses pulling your head.

Do you get a kick out of trying to be so superior?

Brexit is turkeys voting for christmas. Idiots who let morons lead them to their own destruction. Billionaires want us out of Europe so they can turn the UK into an unregulated sweat shop, where filthy food can be imported and the Americans can take over the NHS etc. The billionaires will get richer, and the cretinous racist sheep who voted for it will get shafted till their eyes bleed.
Still, knuckle draggers will be knuckle draggers, why they were ever allowed anywhere need a ballot box I have no idea.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You sound like an anti vaccination pusher, warns my people their children will ‘ catch’ autism and wish some horrible disease in them for belief in vaccines.
Or someone with faith in god that as I don’t believe I will burn in Hell for my sins.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If you knew me, you would be laughing as hard as I am! I am a 100% ATHEIST. Science based realistic, logical, religion hating swirling mass of pure logic. Anti-vaxers are cretins, just as anyone who believes in horoscopes, ghosts, spirits , 'energies', crystals, alternative medicines and of course, an after-life. So yeah, you may wanna re-think your assumptions through mate!!

I said you sound like.

Pushing fear if people don’t ha e the same view and then wishing that children starve due to lack of food and old people die due to lack of medical supplies.

This mad max apocalypse people paint when the UK leaves the EU, it’s just fear.......fear that you have no idea what may happen.

Makes sense to look at and prepare for the Worst Case Scenarios.

If the Government haven't haven't got a clue about what's going to happen, what chance have we got.
