I think England is the only country with 2 domestic cups. Scrap it. What's the hold up?
I'd keep it. Good for the youngsters to get some game time.
I like it. Chance for youngsters and squad players.
Many clubs charge reduced prices, and it gives fans who don't always have the opportunity to get to games a chance.
As long as no one is under any illusions as to team selections.
West Ham
Hopefully we can try and win it if everyone else is making changes. Mind you, changes or not we are shiiiite. League Cup must be our level these days.
Probably be in the second round next season too
West Ham are losing already. 6 minutes played and it’s on Sky.

Nope
I'd get rid of it, what other major European leagues have a 2nd domestic cup that runs through most of the season?
I get it can be useful for youth but if every club are playing squad players and youth is it worth the effort it puts on the managers to have to get prepare for the games. It's basically turning into an U23 tournament managed by the first team manager.
As long as waanky teams like Fleetwood and West Ham aren't charging full whack to get in then I don't see a problem.
But they probably are.
I like it. It's only one of three domestic trophies, it comes early in the season, it's nice to win, we can play our youngsters, and I like watching us play.
Perhaps a league cup for each league, winners of all could meet in knock out ties at Wembley. Gives teams an incentive at least
I like the competition tbh, yes we have two cup competitions but aren’t the Copa del Rey and the Coppa Italia all two-legged games all the way to, and including, the final?
The problem here is money, if the winner of the League Cup and FA Cup received 70 million the clubs would take it more seriously IMO as they’d be pressure from the club to do so, but “all” you get is a trophy.
It was the same with the Europa until CL was offered, the priority in our country seems to be:
Win the PL
Finish 2-4
Don’t get relegated
Promotion
FA Cup
League Cup
It’s a trophy, the final’s in February, go for it! Teams like Everton might get a favourable draw and notch up some silverware for the first time in a generation, or two in Southamption’s case, three in Newcastle’s...

Which other country then outside of the United Kingdom
I don't think Rowett had much choice with the start he has had.

Aye, Sky showed Stoke’s squad before the season kicked off and apart from Butland and Joe Allen it was bang average tbh. Maybe Crouch and Diouf can do something at that level but it was an old, slow squad which needed work. I think he should have stayed at Derby.
I like it, although I’d prefer it if the premier league team were restricted in some way, such as only u23s

How would we beat Bristol then
But if PL sides were restricted to just u23 players would the other leagues be happy? Would beating a PL who are not allowed to play their best players mean much to them?

If it meant they had a more realistic chance of winning it then yes.
There’s no point having a carbon copy of
The FA Cup, particularly nowadays with the gap as wide as it is.
I agree which is why I’d personally scrap it. I just wonder how much the teams outside the PL would care if such a ruling came in? They know they’re not really playing PL sides and I’m not too sure how much dedication the PL managers would put into with such restrictions? PL teams currently use it more to give game time to squad players than youth so such a ruling would hinder that.
To a lesser degree adding the reserve teams from selected EPL clubs hasn't really helped the paint trophy too much.
True, I’m not overly fussed either way. I just think it’s good for some players, particularly the younger ones, a chance of playing some competitive football, especially with the stockpiling that happens nowadays.

The JPT was a great competition for EFL teams, there own chance at glory away from the PL teams, the idea to bring U23’s was solely a move to help PL clubs in a competition which wasn’t designed for them in the first place, some of the games saw 3-400 crowds, it was dead and introduction of PL teams was the main cause.
I forgot about that. I mean should PL teams even be allowed in the league cup, i mean they f-cked over the football league association when they broke free and created the PL.
