I think it's it's brilliant and good on the lads making there international debuts. Part time footballers playing for there country is a nice story. A respectable scoreline too. The keeper saved 7 of the 10 shots he faced.

Don't know the ins and outs of the dispute but I believe it's about money?

if so, the players should be ashamed. Easy for me to say, but I wouldn't expect to be paid to represent my country and any money I did receive would be redirected to charity or back into the grassroots.

Interesting point regarding the integrity of the tournament as i hadn't thought about that but i wouldn't put it past say the Russians to drop down one or two and then win out to qualify in six years time.

That part of the story is great i agree

Read he had to go into work and tell his boss he needed a few days off for international duty, surprised he didn't think he was pulling his pasher.

Yeah it's about money although the players agreed to continue under the terms they were previously on and the Danish FA said no.

So personally think the blame has to lie with the FA.

Will be worth a watch if they face Wales with that line up. I ll back them.

Depends.

If it's about image rights then I'd be pretty facked off if a company was making millions off me, without paying me a fair share.

Image rights?

Not something Leigh Griffiths will need to worry about I imagine....

But it's not a company. It's the FA, who are responsible for the running of the game in that country and by demanding more money (accept they'd play the next game on the old terms) then they're effectively taking money away from the grassroots of the game.

I think this doesn't reflect well on the players.

The days of the fat cats making the money and the workers getting a pittance are gone in football.
Absolutely entitled to be paid if you generate income.
Mon the workers
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If only the proletariat had the same tools to use on their fat cat bosses.

Except that this isn't what the situation is at all.

The Danish FA were unhappy that players had their own individual sponsorships with companies that may compete with those that sponsor the national team.

Players weren't 'demanding more money' and taking it away from the grassroots at all. They just wan to have the right to earn money for themselves by doing the odd tv ad here or there, or representing a certain boot manufacturer.

The FA were unhappy about this, the Players union told them that they stand by their clients right to earn a wage if they want, so the FA declined to pick them for the national team.

I can;t see how this reflects badly on the players at all.

Belmonty - I said above (or I think I did ) that I don't know the ins and outs of this so happy to be corrected.

As a casual observer without the facts it didn't look good for the players - the devil as always is in the detail.

The FA should get pummeled with fines from UEFA.

Wales and the Republic won't mind 1 bit though.

Well the Republic might when they have to face the full strength side after Wales pump the futsallers, youtube stars and lower league players.
