Didn't he have to fight Povekin, else he would lose one of his belts?

Nope he could have still taken the Wilder fight but he kept changing the goal posts for Wilder.

First it was £50m which Wilder provided and then it was he will only fight in the UK.

You seem to know a lot about it.

Has AJ confirmed that’s what happened?

I thought Povetkin was a mandatory?

The povetkin fight is a mandatory fight that he was forced to fight, or be stripped by the WBA. Go check yourself op.

Thought that was the case.

Kash appears to know more about it though.

WBA gave him an exemption to fight Wilder providing the winner takes on Povetkin. No agreement was made within the timeframe so then AJ had to fulfil his mandatory obligation.

And you know for a fact that AJ was the reason that agreement wasn’t reached in time, how?

AJ own sport channel reporting this

And how does that article back your point up?

Man your hardwork:

"IBF, WBA and WBO heavyweight champion Joshua is now likely to fulfil his obligation to face mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin because an agreement has not been reached with WBC holder Wilder for an undisputed title fight, although talks continue to stage that bout next year."

posted on 12/9/18

It’s only hard work because you’re not engaging your brain.

I accepted that it could have happened.

My question related to what basis you’re blaming AJ for moving the goalposts and being the reason it didn’t happen.

AJ said he would take Wilder on in the US if he get £50m, Wilder provided £50m guarantee but still the fight did not take place.

Obviously this is all "he said", "you said" but the vid is there where AJ said he would fight for £50m.

Oh well that’s just conclusive then, isn’t it.

AJ must be running scared.

If you have a unification fight then that can take precedence over a mandatory defence.

posted on 13/9/18

Pretty sure Wilder failed to provide th £50m that he promised and thus the match was never made

Tyson Fury has shown up that fraud by taking on the bronze bomber swiftly and without hesitation. Officer AJ has already sold-out, he is so afraid of a loss on his record you can see the fear in his eyes regarding his future.

------------------------

don't be silly.... the boxing world has had our pants down for this, no intention of an AJ vs Wilder yet... they made us believe it, so that Fury can step in, making the fight in April between AJ vs Fury/Wilder a far bigger fight.

AJ & Wilder would of taken home about 100 million, you can't tell me that a fight couldn't of been arranged?

this way, Fury can run his mouth telling everybody that AJ bottled it, it makes it more heated for next time.

in any case AJ's fought vlad, Parker, Takem, soon Povetkin, spent years collecting belts why would he bottle it at the last hurdle?? - come on.

its the boxing world making it all the more exiting for the rest of us!

wilder offered 50mill the poor sod hasn't made a quarter of that his entire career

posted on 13/9/18

Its hard for me to take any of this seriously - looking at Wilders record I can't believe he's made a lot of money, even in America, for the fights he has had.

He couldn't offer £50m to fight in the States, not saying that the fight wouldn't make that much but he definitely can't back up that figure and I assume his Promotion company wouldn't either.

Secondly AJ holds all the major belts, why wouldn't he want to fight at home and fill a stadium with 80k people. Or he could fight in Vegas in front of a quarter that at best. The Klitschkos set the mark for this really, if you wanted to fight them you had to do it in Germany, their titles, their rules. Why are we now saying AJ should do what his opponents want?

posted on 13/9/18

Should also point out that Tyson Fury is probably the best Wilder will have been in the ring with but its a calculated risk as he has been out for so long. Tyson also brings a lot of fans to the States - Irish connection etc. Its probably the best option for him, if he wins that then there is the money to stage the fight with AJ, probably in the UK.

If he loses it sets up Fury to fight AJ for probably the biggest domestic fight in a decade.

posted on 13/9/18

It will be AJ vs Fury / Wilder in April... and its been set up perfectly... who ever wins Fury / Wilder (I think Fury) will then be really mouthy and call AJ the bottler.. it will add to the fire as the biggest fight in my lifetime, boxing as a sport is on the up and this is the climax to what we've been building towards.. the hype will be massive..

an undisputed fight with AJ having 3 belts that used to belong to Fury, Fury having the 4th belt... "I'm coming for my belts back... "nah they're my belts and the one belt you hold is mine too"

the boxing world has played a blinder.

theres no way on gods green earth that either AJ or Wilder bottled the fight between them, no way.. you'd not bottle anything at that level, 50 million each? - more? not a chance anyones bottled this

Joshua is using the same ducking tactics as Mayweather.

Let them get old then fight him.

Wilder is going to be on the slide by 2019. Joshua will target a fight with an out of prime Wilder.

How anybody fall for Hearn's and Joshua's lies is beyond me.
