As good as we were - minus the final third

I’d like to think we’d have performed better had more of our players had a proper pre-season. Your midfield were fresher and sharper than ours which was where the game was won. We have issues with our midfield, issues Poch did his absolute best to highlight yesterday, and you ruthlessly exploited it. That’s not an excuse or sour grapes, you fully deserved the win yesterday.

Hopefully Poch doesn’t see it as a consequence of the World Cup and instead sees that we have to move to a more technical midfield who can and will play when being pressed, otherwise we won’t progress.

We have been defensively better this year so if we score 1 or two we have a higher chance of winning. Last year we had to score 4 goals to be sure of the win.

I thought a huge part of Spurs being so terrible was that we made them terrible. They couldn't find any passes and couldn't deal with our counter. Sloppy finishing aside it was a great performance from us

OP, your gloating is typically shortsighted.

Spurs had started the pre-season a week later tha Liverpool, as Liverpool didn't have players in the WC semis, bar one Henderson and he was rested until closing play yesterday. That tells you all you need to know if you use your brain

Spurs are paying for supplying England with quality local player.

Liverpool bought non English for the main core players and started the pre-season a week early.

I doubt it if Spurs had the same type of preseason as Liverpool did, Liverpool would have that kind of space like they did.

Luck should even out during the season

And Spurs will get the back on track soon

A season is not a run, it's a marathon

'I really think Tottenham flattered us yesterday and not many top teams will give us that grace.'

Whilst being accurate this statement puts an entirely negative slant on the game.

More realistic would be to say that the scoreline made spurs look better than they were and not many top teams will be given that grace.

Once our game is finely tuned and the big guns firing smoothly again we'll be putting teams who play that poorly against us to the sword.

Spurs have something like 1 win in 13 of their last meetings with Liverpool, and beyond the horror show at Wembley last season, nobody should be that surprised that we came away with a result.
I think generally speaking Klopp has Pochettinos number tactically, and with the improvements to our squad, I didn't expect to lose that game yesterday if I'm honest, although obviously you can never be sure.
Our defensive solidity is our mainstay at the moment, along with the obvious talent we have in forward areas.
Our front three may not be as fluent as we are used to, but they still have more than enough to get the goals required to win games.
I believe we have the best defence in the league, and our front 3 are as good, and better than most, City aside.
Added to this the outstanding performances of Milner, and Keitas growing understanding of what's required, I think well go close this season.

You do realise that Klopp has been in charge for 7 of those games, winning 2 and losing 1 don’t you? Hardly sufficient sample size to back up your theory..

It's not really a theory as such, maybe the numbers aren't dramatic, but Pochettino inherited a far better and more settled squad than Klopp did, so although the numbers aren't huge, it shows for me, that Klopp is the superior manager.

the reality is kane looked shot.

poch made a tactical error first half and when he reverted the team was all over the place.

Our performance must be considered as a factor of why spurs were poor. We pressed at the right time in the right areas and stopped the supply lines to eriksen and Kane, this completley stopped spurs doing what they do well in attack.

The press forced spurs to give up the ball in their half time and time again, we should have been much more clinical.
