A lot of people forgot his pre leg break form, some people denied it even happened or said he only had a couple of good games.
If a young player is capable of stringing together a bunch of good performances, trust in his ability should always be shown.
I only wish players like Martial and Pereira are shown the same kind of trust.
We probably still need to sign a left back next summer though, only this time it will be back up for Shaw.

Dunno Kung fu, shaw’s pre leg break form was pretty ordinary at best when you compare him to the like of Robertson or chillwell. I’ll eat my words (a bit) and say he’s come back much better than expected and it’s good to see, but he has a long way to go still before I’d say we couldn’t do with an upgrade, but it’s promising.

Gadot yeah, lush.
Gadot fack outta here!! Dalot deserves praise yes.
Great debut. But back to the oven he goes..
But Shaw so far has been a triumph...
Never gave up on Shaw. Thought he was decent last season when he played but never got a proper run. Maybe Jose was right. Concussions aside he’s been injury free for over a year now.
When he broke his leg I thaught Shaw was shaping up to be not only one of our best players but one of the best fb's in the league he'd started that season so well.
He appears to have got his confidence back particularly in the physical aspect of the game which has to be a big psychological hurdle when you suffer such a bad leg break
Early days still for him but a very encouraging start indeed
I had finally given up on Shaw at the start of this season, and he has gone and proven me wrong, so far. I really hope that he can continue this form. I think that as he says, much of it is down to maturing. Living with his mates certainly wasn't helping him. There was a passage of play last night where Shaw was knocking the ball about with a couple of other players and it was just one touch passing in triangles. It was neat & tidy play, nothing amazing, but what struck me was that Shaw had the confidence to play that way. He seemed easy on the ball rather than looking like he was trying too hard and that was great to see.
As for Dalot, a promising start. Looks like he can actually put a cross in and Jose must do his best to make Dalot a regular first teamer this season, should his form deserve the promotion. Likewise, the coaches need to be working with Shaw on his crossing and general attacking play.
I honestly believe that a couple of fullbacks that can cross will see a decent increase in Lukaku's goal tally. At the moment we are losing about 30% of his goal threat from the fact that we don't have much decent service from wide.
I hope dalot can be used a lot this season, he could make a big impact.
Some of Shaw's crosses and picking people out have been nice to see - he could have had an assist last night if Mata had hit the target with a good pick out.
He's shown a bit more going forward - that goal seems to have done his confidence wonders. I haven't seen it, but didn't he also get an assist for England recently? He doesn't need to be spectacular and flamboyant in attack - that's not his game - he just needs to be productive and there seems to have been an improvement in that area so far this season.
Valencia can't play 2 games a week anymore. Dalot will get plenty of games from here on in I reckon. Expect Valencia play this wey though.

Yeah a good assist for england too. He needs to still improve in attack, he’s not up to the standard of his pl peers in an attacking sense, but is getting a little better no issues in defending he’s solid. I’d be surprised if he doesn’t stay choice left back for the season, not as if he’s got much competition.

Pereira hasn't done too bad to be fair. Started a couple of games and come off the bench a couple of times. Hopefully he gets another start at the weekend with Matic missing.

His assist in the England game was fantastic. It was the kind of pass that I didn't think he had in his locker - perfectly weighted.

Yes, I think he will play quite a bit as the season goes on. Jose is obviously a big fan and seemed to want to get him in the team ASAP.
Yes Dunc, my fellow Shaw supporting brethren.
He's bebe solid defensively and gives us balance on the left. His attacking play has been better than most expected and he makes the right decision both with and without the ball most of the time.
Dalot is also looks pretty strong and big for a 19 year old too. So there are no worries about him having to bed in, he looks like he can handle the rough and tumble of the PL.

Because he is a bloody good defender and hardly gets beat 1 v 1. Let's calm down with this kid here! He was completely roasted when they attacked his side once from the 1st half, straight on his back. Good cross on him, but let us wait and see. I see people already saying bench Valencia ffs.

I think we need to look to phase Valencia out. Not because he is a bad defender, but because he can't cross for toffee. We have a striker that thrives off crosses and we don't give him any service from wide areas. With Jose looking to deploy a deep DM to help the CB's out, that frees up the FBs to get forwards more. So I think that it makes sense to sacrifice the additional defensive work that Valencia does for the attacking threat that Dalot appears to offer.
