Far to early to write him off

..................

Not for me. I can usually tell by now if a player is going to be any good.

I don't get many wrong.

Well each to their own. I think he may have more to him than we’ve seen, time will tell.

Whether he has what it takes to make it at United remains to be seen. All I am saying is that it seems quite daft to say that he won't make it based on a handful of games where he had been asked to play a very specific role. And those saying that he can't pass the ball forwards have me baffled. Despite Jose asking him to play a defensive/functional role, he still played a few incisive balls forwards and switched the play with some nice crossfield balls. His passing looked just fine to me.

Exactly, there’s a lot more to come from him.

I think so too. From everything that Jose and Carrick have said, his temperament and attitude are exactly what is required to make it at United. Carrick actually said that he is a shining example to other youngsters in terms of how he goes about the game. Said that even when he is only travelling with the squad he is always paying attention and trying to learn and that there is nothing flash about his. He is at least as good as Phil Neville in terms of ability, who was a great servant to the club. If he can match his attitude then there is no reason he won't become a valuable asset to the club, even if it is as a squad player.

I understand the argument that he’s been doing what Jose asked him to do but it doesn’t stop young excited talent from passing with imagination.

Unless everybody thinks Jose told you can’t create you’re only allowed to play simple accurate passes to players in acres of space.

It one aspect of his game is exciting and like I said before his ability in a defensive role isn’t amazing either.

What’s to stop him from playing simple but just trying an ambitious ball one or two times? Will Jose really have a go at him for doing that? I don’t think so.

Like somebody else said, Pereira has so much class on the ball that he can come out of a game with 91% pass completion being adventurous.

The two aren’t comparable and it will be a crime of McT is given more game time than Andreas this season.

They are different kinds of players that will play different roles in different circumstances.

Will you be annoyed if Rashford plays more than Dalot?

You can't compare them without considering the options available in the squad to fill their respective roles and which kinds of players we'll need on the pitch in which games.

1. I think you are being unfair in saying that he hasn't on occasion passed with imagination, despite Jose's instructions. Have a look at the video below from 4.30 onwards for some examples.

2. Jose has said that he did pretty much tell him to keep it really simple:

José Mourinho was critical of the Manchester United crowd after watching his team beat Liverpool 2-1 and questioned whether some supporters were being unfair on Scott McTominay by taking exception to a moment in the second half when the inexperienced midfielder played a backward pass rather than choosing to attack.

Mourinho’s decision to substitute Marcus Rashford, the scorer of both United goals, was booed by some fans later in the match but the manager said he was more aggrieved by what he perceived to be a negative response to one of McTominay’s passes.

“The fans they can do what they want,” Mourinho said. “I am not upset at all with that reaction [about Rashford]. But I am upset with the reaction they had with Scott McTominay. A kid of 20 years old was making all the right decisions and they wanted him to make the wrong decisions. When he decides to break the intensity of the game, it was a wonderful solution and the fans reacted against the kid. That was the bad one. To react against me, that was not the problem.”

3. As for Pereira, I totally agree. He oozes class and I would rather see him in the team than McT. But as has already been stated, their roles in the team are very different and are likely to be even more different moving forwards, with Jose, McClair and Gary Neville all talking about how he can be a top centre back - a position he has played when younger.

Look at his attributes and his attitude and I think that he could have a really bright future at the club. I have to say, I'd be tempted to give him game time ahead of Lindelof right now. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the coaches are working with him at the moment on that position.

Well I hope you guys are right, I don’t want to sound like Stretty and hate on players for no reason, I just don’t see anything in him to feel optimistic about.

If he can become a Matic type player that would be fantastic but I just don’t think he has enough raw ability to be brilliant.
