Look at all the players in the squad. Outside of De Gea, Bailly and possibly Pogba and Martial, which players would a new manager want to challenge in order to challenge the likes of City and Barca?
So much averageness - Sanchez, Matic, Mata, Shaw, Lukaku, Fred etc. They would need about 8 new players and its not clear the funds would be available for that.
Cant see the utd job being that attractive tbh.

If he's going to be sacked I'd do it now before the Newcastle game. We may get a sense of optimism going into that which can give us a boost as we go into the break.
Does anyone actually believe he will go? The day I pick up my phone or turn on the telly and see he's been sacked will still be a shock, ed will probably wait till our season has no chance of being saved.. only 7 games into the premier league season.. sack him now and we could get top 4 and atleast a better style of play..

The rot set in from before SAF even left. No long term plan AT ALL.
Giving managers/coaches such ridiculously short periods to turn an initially ageing squad (and then one that was full of young but drossy players) into something competitive in a league like the epl is almost the worst kind of directorial decision making.
On the books at the moment United have one player that is a genuine improvement to what they replaced since 2010. Funnily enough bought in by Jose.
If/when Jose goes then EVERY player should also go. Bar, perhaps, jones smalling and lukaku, who really can't be held as responsible as so many others. Many of them are far greater issues than Jose is. Indeed, some of them have had three coaches that they have performed 5hit for. Demonstrating that it's really not his fault if the players are not good enough - and they just aren't.
Plus, I don't go with this garbage about the style of play being more important than results. I watched United between 1968 and 1992 consistently playing, easily, the most exhilarating and attractive kind of football of any top flight club, and winning eff all in the process. Liverpool conversely mastered the art of ugly and had the most successful period in their history.
If United (of any club) don't get the basics right then exhilarating football is a long way down the agenda. And that is so true of this current squad.
United, as a club, may feel that getting rid of all those that are just average alongside those that are cr@p is too drastic, but something has to be done to get rid iof detritus like herrera, lingard, martial, rashford without causing their perceived value from depreciating too obviously.
It matters little whether he stays or goes, it matters little who replaces him. With such poor quality, poor charactered, and clueless players in the first team the club is in much greater trouble than the deepest naysayers are prepared to tread

My ticket last night cost me almost as much as City can sell 3 group games for.
