In fairness to poor old Drinky think we contributed to his downfall somewhat. The club brought him here when we had a manager that clearly never wanted him and that pretty much set the tone for his Chelsea career.
Just hope the club have learned lessons from that. If there's little to no communication between club and manager regarding new players coming in then what do you expect.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agree. A terrible move for all involved, other than drinkys agent.
Whenever when mugs on here were calling him tammy welbeck. Darren the utd fan most notably.

I'm fully aware how great TAA is
I think he is breaking new ground at full back for how productive they can be
But Reece is a generational talent and I've never been more sure about a youth player
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Same here, you could tell even in the youth team he was a complete level above everyone else.
Once he's been subjected to the same amount of experience TAA has I think he'll be the better player!
Wouldn't surprise me if we have to fight the parasites from Madrid off for him in a few years!
In fairness Nick quite a few of our fans on here didn't think that Tammy was good enough before this season. There's been a tendency for some of our fans to turn their noses up at a player unless he's a big name. Hopefully that's changing now that we've seen some youth come through this season.
Can remember a year ago getting shut down by posters when I (and a couple of others on here) suggested that we should bring back Tammy instead of shelling out for Higuain (loan fees, wages etc).
Having said Sarri probably wouldn't have played Tammy much and he ended up getting a great year of experience at Villa last season that undoubtedly helped him and prepared him for this season.

Obviously still playing on his mind, think too many people are ready to jump on his back while the mental scars heal.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Just putting the inury aside for a moment, this is still a 19 year old kid. Not evert player develops at the same rate..............so injury or no injury, those rushing to judge him are foolish in teh extreme.
However, I am angry at him for leveraging the club and also at the club for for agreeing a ridicoulous contract for a young player who is so unproven.
And it has done him no favours on the pitch as it has brought too much unwanted added pressure to the lad. But, he is gonna have to deal with it, it can't go back in the box now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I blame the club more than I do him , they were the ones who allowed his contract to run down knowing what a talent he was and they were the ones culpable for getting us into the transfer ban situation. Combined with Hazard leaving it turned into a perfect storm for him.
Can't say I blame him for making hay while the sun shines in this day and age and he's not responsible for people making out to be the next George Best, as you said he's still a kid at the moment with plenty to learn!
Wouldn't surprise me if we have to fight the parasites from Madrid off for him in a few years!
---------------------------
Yes that is a concern Brum. If he becomes club captain which I think will happen all things being even then hopefully he'll do a JT and stay his whole career here as a top flight player.

brummie was always saying tammy isn't good enough and would never make it...
No i remember you both saying things along those lines, I think I was open to the idea but don't think I felt too strongly either way.
I believe my thoughts were "we need goals, maybe hes not good enough all round, but he will score goals".
Well he's proved me wrong, he has improved non stop with his all round game. His hold up play the last month has been the best i've seen since drogba.

Yeah I don't think any of us thought that he was going to be quite as good as he has, especially his all round game. But he was banging in goals or Villa last season albeit in the Championship so there was every reason to think that he would do at least alright at PL level.
Some people were saying that he was Championship level which is unfair because it's not his fault that up until then he'd had minimal PL experience to test himself at this level.
As always Superb, you know I absolutely hate saying, "I told you so!"
