He'll do well at Atletico, Simeone will toughen him up. Plus their league is less physical so he'll cope better

Seems so...Sarri said yesterday he and Giroud were available...which is more than you can say for Higuain

Why can't Sarri start with CHO and Emerson instead of William & Alonso for just one single important match?

At the moment it's looking like we're heading to McGettigans, could change though.

Superb shame about sarri. Despite a successful season I find myself saying “it’s a shame about...” a lot

Hey Nick, yeah it's a shame but managers come and go and Sarri was presented with a chance to coach the biggest club in his home country. Difficult to turn down, especially if you're a bit homesick which he supposedly was.

It's always difficult to know what's happening behind the scenes though.

It 's a strange and surreal situation we're in at the moment.

Sarri not signed, sealed and delivered to Juve yet and I still think the best option would be if we could keep him and persuade him to work with the younger players.

Any experienced manager with high stock behind them I doubt would touch us with a barge pole at the moment, just one world class player to call on and no chance of improving on a poor squad.

Frank with Jody, many seem to argue don't have the experience to take on such a big job. I'd argue that there's not good time to take this job on, with many high profile names falling on their swords here.

In fact I'd argue that there's no better time for Frank to take over her. Surely there can be no expectation that we'll finish top four next season, even Roman must see that's out of reach.

Next season, unless there are a dramatic turn of events, we are going to have to go against the Chelsea grain and use youth, were we're further hamstrung by are best three academy players likely to miss a large portion of the beginning of the season.

Frank and Jody are the only ones I see being the only ones capable and willing to take that challenge up and as I see it they have a free hit, even if we find ourselves in the lower reaches, to carry on and build for the following season when we can supplement any success stories (if there are any) from the academy with some more experienced signings.

I've also read on these boards about our so called fickle fans turning on Frank if things go sour next season, I've got to say that's some of the biggest load of rubbish I've ever heard. I've been going to Chelsea regularly since 1974 and never heard our fans abuse managers until last season and even then I don't believe it was down to results but his stubborn refusal to change what was blindingly obvious that needed to be changed. Only Porterfield i previously remember getting grief. Even Morinho in his final days was getting the overwhelming support of the fans until his ultimate dismissal, despite being in the lower reaches of the table.

Things may not be ideal for Frank to be taking over but when would it ever be a good time to take over at our club over the last few years.

I see Terry Henry has entered the betting odds to take over should Sarri leave as well.

WTF has never done to come into consideration - how many weeks did he last at Monaco!

Brummie I’m expecting my name to pop up soon lol. Nothing is ever straight forward at our club

Totally true Brum. Sarri got tucked into because he was a one-trick pony that refused to evolve and vary and change his tactics even when it was blatantly obvious that the tactics being employed had been worked out, countered and were just failing. I couldn't care less if Sarri is leaving as I am not going to miss him. He didn't want to give youth a chance IMO and only did give it a chance under duress and fan dissent.

I had a lot off sympathy for him 69, he inherited a mediocre squad apart from a few quality players who were set up for a three at the back system and not his favoured 433 - full backs that were wholly inadequate for his plans and no striker.

It's true he didn't help his cause by taking too long to unleash RLC and CHO but at least he got there in the end only to be robbed of both at the end because of injury and also his so obviously flawed plan to call on Higuain!

Because of the ban it would still have handicapped him but I still think it's a shame not to find out what could have been!

The big what could have been story in our history was the Eddie McCreadie saga as I am sure you will agree. Now that still irks me to this day.

Agree with you that Sarri was given some average players to work with though. Mind you some like Kovacic he seemed to rate.

To think we alienated Eddie Mac over a company car - hard to believe in this day and age haha!

Definitely agree with that Brummie. There's no better time for Lamps+Morris to come in. We're going to have to turn to youth to at least some extent and there'll be nobody better to oversee that than Jody Morris. He knows all these youth players very well and they know and trust him.

Next season there won't be a high expectancy either or there shouldn't be anyway given the transfer ban. If done properly next season will be a chance to rearrange things at the club for the better to put us in much better stead for future seasons going forward.

Looks like Sarri has officially gone now as well. I'm hoping we didn't agree to that before we had someone ready to come in. The last thing we need right now is a repeat of the debacle of last season, being without a manager right up to the last minute!
