Just what we needed. A big win and the front three all scoring. They should be in the mood for Cardiff.
I didn't enjoy watching that more than any other game so far this season. That's because (please forgive the defensive stance) I saw Juve last night and saw a 10-15 yard pass and move, pass and move that totally dominated the game.
OK, they were playing against those poor Reds, those poor things that used to be a football team more properly trained in driving PSV vehicles, buses, coaches, etc., parking especially being a proficient requisite.
But in terms of domination, we didn't -couldn't - play the way Juve played.
When it comes, that will be a big task.

Yeah, I think your getting a bit carried away with Juve there Jim.
They were good, but at our best, we are better.
I saw a sharpness and intensity that has been lacking in a lot of games this season. It was there for about 30 minutes against City and then they seemed to run out of steam. Resting players at the weekend seemed to have done the trick.
Had the same feeling, Firmino, Mane looked good and Salah slammed that 2nd goal in nicely.
Mf was great too....its looking so good really esp considering all the injuries we have had to cope with already
sloppy n frustrating but some slick play in there too, get shaq or studge on the ball more, our two most creative on it for sure. Corners need sorting out they were shocking again tonight, stop with this near post bs when we had vvd fabinho gomez in the box ffs. Salah hit one right out of play trent couldnt beat the first man for a straight 2 attempts.
Also hope Salah and Mane aren't expecting to take vital penalties when theres Fabinho or Milner on the pitch.

I'm not against you jlou and I accept you've got a point, but their pass and move last night scared the shiiite out of me. I don't think we could live with that.
Perhaps it's my reaction to the negativity that was the Huddersfield game. We couldn't string a pass together, possession went west in that game.

played alright, a little off the pace at times getting caught out man on or w.e. but won a lot of tackles after escaping a yellow early on. burst forward a few times carrying the ball and passed it generally simple but well.
There's plenty of mistakes still on show, there's no doubt about that and it's not perfect but the fluidity of play was there, players were passing and moving with more confidence and attacking intent.
For most of the season it's been a little bit disjointed with too many moves breaking down too easily and players not making runs into attacking positions for each other.
Tonight they played much more as a team who knew each other.
So, SRP, how would you rate Red Star tonight? That needs to be fed into the equation.

Agreed jim.
But you and I have been watching football, and particularly Liverpool, long enough to realise one swallow doesnt make a summer, but by the same token, a slow start, in terms of performance levels, particularly going forward, doesnt retract from how good we know this team can be.
Im not saying just because we beat a pretty timid Red Star team, we have now rediscovered our best form, but Im certain well grow, and when we do hopefully reach the latter stages of this competition, well be more than ready to take on the likes of Juventus.

Like the commentators said they played well and came to make life difficult, looked dirty at times perhaps but they gave a lot of effort in the first 30 mins or so and even 1-0 down, 2-0 down onwards looked comfortable.
I think CL is a step up in class for them for sure, will be too much but can see why they held Napoli to a draw.
Front 3 looked sharp and hungry
Shaq and Fabinho were both very good
Definitely my favourite game this season
Only negative I thought Lallana was 💩 again
Not really jim, we played poor opposition in Huddersfield at the weekend and looked fairly poor and didn't really click albeit winning the game.
For the first half hour Red star gave a decent account of themselves but clearly are a team who suffer badly in terms of confidence from going a goal down.
Don't forget they held Napoli to a goalless draw in the first game of the group so they aren't total pushovers.
I actually think this might be the game that kick starts our attacking game, against Huddersfield we kept messing up the final through ball but tonight we were much better. Hopefully it's not a false dawn and we stick plenty past Cardiff in Saturday
we played a side who not even win in championship.
let's be clear. hammer Cardiff and show the same sort of control and that's at least a prem club (who are btw nowhere near prem.std)

so compared red star to huddersfield.
Hudderfield were tougher game and they never gave up despite being absolutely awful in front of goal
Red star gave up and resorted to cheap fouls.

I wouldn't read too much into how good Juve were in that game.
They were playing against the slowest midfield in the premiership. Matic Pogba and Mata just is not going to control a game.

Those 3 could keep the ball if they tried to.
I watched and your defences default was hoof at lukaku. or matrial..
you retained it better when you passed it a bit.
game it's all about pace. juve moved only 5/10 yards at half pace and one and two touch passed it.
Every time luke shaw chased someone up they lifted a ball into his channel and they were away. they really played him for a fool
jimmy is right. It was realistically simple enough for juve to play that game.
And i would be first to admit its the type of game LFC have been lacking for about 6 months. we've resorted to playing too direct at salah and need to get back to pass and move ourselves.
Those 3 could keep the ball if they tried to.
................
No they can't. They don't have the energy to do so.
Matic is incapable of releasing a quick pass, he hold on to it for too long and has no pace to get way from anyone.
Pogba does have another gear but chooses not to use it more often than not. Mata does have the ability, but again not the legs.
